I wanted to get some opinions from anyone who has had or seen limb failures on a wood & FG laminated limb.
The feature in the picture is on the face of the lower limb of my Yamaha YG68 68” 35# recurve.
It is tough to photograph, so the picture is the best of a bad lot.
There is a crack in the finish, as can be seen.
The crack follows a curved line in the pigment of the glass, the line is not dark, it is just another tone of white under the clear coat.
The tiller has not changed, the draw weight has remained constant
I am not really concerned about it as I am curious.
I bought the bow, used, in the early 1970’s; it is at least 45 years old and owes me nothing. I still shoot it, it may outlast me, or it may fail someday. It will never be a collector’s item, so I might as well use it.
The bow looks great from 5 to 6 feet away, but the original owner carried it in a padded case, great, except he there all the hard metal gizmos like stabilisers in the case with it. It has numerous little scratches and dings, but I am not sure this is one of those.
