I have been shooting the magnus 1 4 blade broadhead. Now that they no longer make these I am looking for a replacement.Zwickey Delta, Simmons Mako,Kustom King trailmaker?

If you're OK with a 2 blade you don't need to look much further than Ace. Time proven and many weights to pick from. Plus they're affordable.

There is no best. There may be a best for you, but there are really good ones to choose from including Ace, Zwickey...and actually most glue-on heads will do the job quite well.

Your in opinion territory now..... nothing wrong with a Zwickey Delta 4 blade (or 2 blade).

I like Zwickey's and the Bear razorheads.

Ive been hunting for many years and have all these heads you guys have mentioned, so I am looking for opinions. Hibre, hi presion, bodkin, ma-3, Bear,Ace, Snuffer. I have killed with them all. Looks like most of you like zwickey.

Deltas for me 2 or 4 blade

Which one can you sharpen best? That's the best one for you.

Sometimes it's the simple solution like fdp suggests. I've used Bear Razorheads since 1967 and have zero issues in all that time. I still use them but do have a few Ace Standard and even a Snuffer or two about the place...and MA-3, but I normally use Bear Razorheads. They made millions of them and you can still find them just about anywhere so I doubt I'll ever run out.

Oh I like sharp! For me the 2 blade sharpen very well and then add bleeders for awesome bloodtrails and quick kills. I like to hear others thoughts

I’m with Frank & George; what sharpens best for you?

My son says that the No Mercy single bevel is the deadliest thing that he has ever killed deer with. They come in a four blade, but that would make his sharpening method a bit challenged.

Zwickeys or Ace

From: Jim McCann

I'm gathering a collection of Zwickey broadheads these days, and they sure are dull out of the package. Just today I received in the mail some Ace 165 grain glue-on heads, and they sure are sharp. Having said that, even the Ace heads will need a bit of work to get the rough edge off, but even a lousy sharpener like me will get them finished up easily.

If you're looking for another somewhat large 4-blade, I'd definitely go with the Zwickey Deltas. If you want to switch to a 2-blade, anything from Ace will work well...and not break the bank.

Zwickey,Ace, Magnus,Journeyman ,Bear etc will work all about the SAME

its just which one you can sharpen good if you have sharpening problems-but they all will get sharp

and have you confidence in (flys good) for you

For me and for the $ the old ACE standards are as good as any in what they do -even the high dollar ones

2 Blade? Ace Standard or Zwickey Delta. 3 Blade? VPA.

One thought, if you’re working up a load, so to speak...

The Ace Standard comes in 3 weights, all with the same dimensions. It’s my understanding that the weight increase is achieved by using a thicker (and presumably stronger) main blade, so if strength up front is a consideration or concern for you, you can probably find a shaft that will time around that point weight. All those different sizes and wall thicknesses in aluminum make it fairly easy, as do the various insert options for carbons.

I suppose it’s possible that someone at Ace has figured out how to save a little in production costs by using different steels so that all 3 weights are equally strong (and plenty good enough, according to reports by knowledgeable resources!), but that’s purely speculative on my part.

Anybody have an opinion on whether a thicker main blade is any more or less difficult to sharpen or holds an edge any better than a thinner one? Assuming the same steel, of course.

From: Andy Man

doubt thickness would be a major problem-but a thinner would likely be easier to sharpen

saw a demonstration of a guy actually sharpen an axe to the point that with shave cream shaved 1/2 of his beard off rather cleanly

After poor blood trails, I went to a 3 blade Woodsman and I’m happy with my decision

From: GF

Honestly, I’ve sharpened an axe with just a file and had no trouble shaving a patch on my forearm... so maybe there’s hope for me yet!

But... Shaving cream? What a wuss! I haven’t bothered with that stuff in over 30 years... and I stay clean-shaven half the year.
