The guy who sold me my '67 Thunderbird has a Stemmler LB listed now. No writing on the bow, just labels. He estimates the weight at #35.

Do you think this would be a good shooter for one of the boys, or is it better left for someone's collection? Any estimates on a fair price are welcome...

THX!

Stemmler, and others made a gazillion of them and they are not collectible to the average archer..unless your grandpap worked for them or something like that. Let someone shoot it. My old York lemonwood has be glued and patched multiple times and still going.

If I were you I would flex it first and get it to 26 or 28...no further. Many of those old ones were actually weighted at 26" and not 28". My Ol' Buck is like that. You my want to check it on a scale once you see it's working fine. You also may want to shoot some arrows from it yourself. They can be surprising.

I have a Stemmler takedown recurve, one of the best models Stemmler made. They are nice bows but don't think they have much collector value.

Ok , I wrote a thread on one. No one replied.Mine is 40 lbs. One tip had a small chip,so I put over lays on it ,and a ff string. That bow really surprised me. A 450 grain arrow shot through chrony at 150 fps. Pleasant bow to shoot. I raised the brace on mine so that I have very little hand shock. I paid 20 dollars for the bow, and I think 9 dollars for shipping. It is a Stemmler, and I fixed a Paul Bunyon 45 lb.fiberglass bow up for my son.I painted them both wood grain, and put new leather grip covers on them.Nice bows. I think if you buy it your son,s will like it. Mine does, and so do I.

First recurve I ever shot was a Stemmler that someone had lying around. Nothing special, but I'm not familiar with all their models. Did they ever make a 'high end' bow? Those are usually more collectible.

As far as shooting, my first bow was a Stemmler semi recurve from the early sixties. Nothing special, but it was smooth, and shot well enough. Finally blew up, but that was because it had a little limb twist when I got it (early 90's) and I over twisted it many times trying to correct the slight twist. Should have just let it be, I guess.

So... another old bow that I came across... Can't make out the brand, but I'm sure somebody will recognize it...

I used to shoot a 75lb Stemmler Len Cardinale take down recurve. The bow shot but I sold it.
