Trent, I suspect everybody is out hunting, or trying to! If the questions are generic in nature about the shrew, I'm certain the many shrew owners on here could answer them. Serial number or year built, I don't know about, but what model or brace height, etc. would certainly get responded to. Have fun with the new bow. I certainly enjoy my Shrew.

I do understand it’s hunting season and many people are out of pocket

I don't think anyone was trying to be a smartass 'cause unless you found it on the sidewalk those might be questions you'd ask when buying the bow.

Point is, you came to the right place ‘cuz Ron checks in here routinely.
And FWIW, if I found a good deal on a Shrew I’d snap it up right away and worry about the details later.

You could show the writing on the bow so folks could see it. That would probably help a lot to know if it's newer model or an older one. The Shrew has been around for a pretty long time. I had one that looked like that about twenty-couple years ago.

I had a 54"Classic Hunter Carbon foam and my BH was 7-7.25. Yours looks like a CH as well. Check to see if there is a CH in the serial#.

Trent, that is a very good price if the bow is in good shape. A lot of shrews are found for $500-ish used. David McLendon's brace height is a good place to start. Mine likes a tad bit more but it is 60 inches and I have a 30-inch draw.

Think you have an early one made by a bowyer from down south. Had a couple of that model and took several deer with it. Nice hunting bow although the later models are much improved fit and finish. Is it the model with no tip overlays?

Judging by the writing that Shrew looks like it was built by Saxon when they were making bows for Ron, not sure when that was. I’m sure Ron will chime in soon.

Looks Like Saxon writing to me too. I know they made a couple bows for Ron prior to the Shrew being developed. Redhawk and Blackhawk I believe. That would be about 1990/91. May well be an Initial version.

Well I will be the fifth to agree that it looks like Randy's markings. I've seen plenty of Saxon bows with writings just like that.
It would be a very cool find to have such an older/original Shrew design.

Yup an early 1990s bow. A Gary bow almost for certain. A great hunting bow and piece of LaClair history though the later bows are really when the Shrew came into its own.
