Was at full-draw on a young 9 point and decided to pass... an hour later the javalinas showed up. 28 yards! I'm pretty pumped about the whole thing.

LT... they are NOT like a young hog! They are not good to eat... that said - I can't get anybody to cook one for me to try. That said - I suppose with the right preparation you can eat just about anything.
N.Y. Yankee - his name was "I'll get in trouble if I shoot you." We have a pretty strict management program... and with plenty of deer... no need for me to do that.

Last year there was article in our Az. wildlife magazine that Game and Fish puts out about making ham from a Javelin. Big issue was getting over the oder according to the author. Aside from that it is eatable. A friend said he had sausage made from the one he shot with his LB. I got a tag agian so if I am lucky I will find out for myself.

I made BBQ out of the one I shot and wrapped the back strap in bacon and grilled it. My city Wife ate it without any problems. Saw one the other day when I came back to the hotel .. He greeted me.

Do some research, if they are taken care of properly in the field, they can be very good. Andrew Zimmern even had them on his show once where they killed one in the dessert, and then prepared it. They were pretty happy about the outcome.
