My last post didnt come out right..... by all means quickly report it if you havent done so. I hate thieves!!!

From: Jon Stewart
Date: 13-Nov-18

You also need to make a police report to get the ball rolling.

Police and UPS.

Jon Stewart X 2. Thieves are in abundance nowadays but that bow will be easy to trace if someone opts to put it on Ebay or Craigslist. I'll keep the numbers handy so I can stay vigilant.

From: Kwikdraw
Date: 13-Nov-18

Anything shipped by any means should NOT have logos, brand names, etc. indicating what's in the box! Thieves are rampant nowadays!

From: FITTER
Date: 13-Nov-18

Were you given tracking numbers with your shipment? Perhaps posting the cities where this bow was depoted on its way to you ..... if it was in city A, B abd C folks like us can watch craigslist, ebay etc.... in those areas. This is a very special bow and being numbered makes it just a bit easier to spot and im sure whoever stole it is just trying to make a buck. But it more than likely got swiped by one if UPS's minimum wage sorters. ;)

Everyone across the country, keep an eye out for this bow on Craigslist and elsewhere.

Wow, this really sucks.

From: 1/2miledrag
Date: 13-Nov-18

Also, there is some cross-over between private contractors like UPS and USPS, so it is possible a US postal inspector, ie federal agent may be involved in the investigation of this theft.

From: Jon Stewart
Date: 13-Nov-18

Sorry I forgot an important part if this. DO NOT touch the box any more than you already have. Preserve the box for prints as they can get prints off the tape and the paper/cardboard.

And remind the rookie officer that comes to take the report that you preserved the box for prints the best you could. If he balks on taking the box as evidence or refuses to do so, Call for the command officer.

You really need to pursue this.

From: Pa Steve
Date: 13-Nov-18

That really sucks. Hope somehow someway you get that bow. Oh, and the party responsible gets caught and punished! Good luck.

From: nineworlds9

Yup thats grand theft. Damn a thief. There are a couple LEs on ebay right now for outrageous prices but obviously not related to this. Ill keep my eyes peeled.

From: Jimbob
Date: 13-Nov-18

I worked in a UPS sorting facility once upon a time. I'm surprised that you got one of them. Some of the dirtbags that worked there would try to steal everything they could.

From: r-man
Date: 13-Nov-18

yea , same thing happend to me , got a taped up box delivered. same M O . I beleave its a ring or group activity , how do you walk out of work with a 72" bow under your arm ?

From: KDdog
Date: 13-Nov-18

I can guarantee you that Noble is on it. I'm sure he has all bases covered.

From: Biathlonman
Date: 13-Nov-18

No cop is going to finherprint the box. Probably handled by a bunch of folks that had nothing to do with the stealing. If they do they'll just be putting on a show for you, real life isn't like on TV.

From: Jon Stewart
Date: 13-Nov-18

Well biathlonman you are wrong. I was a cop from 25 years and did 10 in the detective bureau. We checked for prints on most all cases and this would be one if I got it. It is simple to do. Any prints recovered would be run thru AFIS. You happened to grab one on an employee and you have a start. Best place to find a print would be on the inside edge of the box when the perp opened it and grabbed the contents. The O.P. is a tax payer and deserves a good investigation.

Of course they will fingerprint the box...any time my branch of the bank was hit by a note passer who came in to rob the place the cops liked it when they left the robbery note behind. They would fingerprint it immediately. In30+ years it's ben part of any teller training on how to handle robberies...rule number two was don't handle the note too much.

A couple of our own security guys who were retired NYPD would fingerprint forged or stolen checks that were presented to the bank. Such a simple thing and you never know what can happen. Once they were able to tie in a guy who was counterfeiting in another state because his was one of the prints found on a bogus check.

Noble its a damn shame...if he knows archery then he knows what he has and you may be out of luck. If he doesn't then it may end up on the auction site so keep your eyes open

Look folks. It happens a lot. If the O.P. follows up and the police look into it at least it is a start. Christmas season is around the corner and theft is going to get worse.

From: camodave

USPS will have records of where that bow was handled. Someone will know something. And a bow like that will be hard to sell.

Some people do have enough fear in their lives. When I shipped my concert classical guitar off to get a fret job, the USPS people were scared of me. The guitar never went with the other packages, it stayed with the handler. When it got to its destination, the warning came with it and the postman delivered it on his own time to get it to the luthier, stating that he wouldn't be able to sleep until the guitar was in the right hands. He even made the luthier exam it to assure that it was delivered undamaged. It was insured for $65,000, but they were terrified what I would do if something that was not replaceable was damaged by them. All too often people feel that they are invisible, so they can do whatever they want.

$65K?

I think I'd hand deliver that one.
