Where did they all go? I used to buy the pink Nugent shafts for $45-50 dz. Awesome deal. They shot as well as I could. Don’t see anybody that has them anymore. Don’t think Gold Tip suddenly stoped making blems. Anybody got a line on some deals? Arrowchucker out

From what I have been told, G.T. has improved their production process and there are very few blems as compared to the past.

Ther is a guy on Facebook, Bear Traditional Archery group who claims he has a few hundred doz for sale, 500 spine.

No company wants to be known for blemished shafts, even if it's cosmetic only. It was only a matter of time till they stopped. Back in the early 80's I bought a Bear takedown that was listed as blemished. Less than a few years later they discontinued selling any blemished items.

I have a dozen of GT Trad Blems 5575 I bought a couple weeks ago on eBay. I think he had quite a few dozens.

They are too stiff for my setup, so I’m going to put them in the classifieds soon.

I found the 500's on ebay also. Get em while you can...

Just checked - BW has 400 and 500's in stock. $59/dz plus shipping.

600's also on Ebay- but only as fletched arrows, $42.50 1/2 dozen.

I bought several dozen but was never able to find the blemish on them. Might have just been a sales ploy.

From: DanaC

My problem with 'blems'is that they give NO figure for straightness tolerance. Okay, I .006" for a dozen. I prefer .003. But thes blems are culled multiple times from what gets sent out for standard retail. SO I'm never sure if these are cosmetic blems, or something else altogether.

If you work in production, do you really want your worst stuff going out the door? I realize that raw materials ain't cheap, but...

"Okay, I .006" for a dozen."

Stupid text editing, should read "I can live with .006"...

I’ll have to dig around a bit but one of the forums someone(a dealer) just posted that he received his shipment of blems. I want to say he had like 600 dozen.

FWIW, on straightness, and this is only useful if you don’t shoot full length or longer shafts. If you buy shafts that are rated for let’s sat .004 full length and cut them down equal lengths from both ends you will most likely end up with shafts that now are .001. Tolerance.

The blems have always been due to finish issues and not straightness. Just as stickhunter said - cut down each end and the straightness gets better.

I bought 500's and 600's shafts by the dozen last night on ebay. $62.50 per dozen shiiped. You just have to search for GT blems.

I found 600 blems fragile compared to GT Warriors. Didn't find blem fakewood any better looking than black shafts.

So either they fixed their shafts so there are no blems being made or they hide them right in with the other shafts. I am betting on the second. LOL I love the Warrior shafts.

Nothing wrong with blems for shooting 3D, targets, or stumps. If you have the tools like a scale and spine tester you could sort through a few dz and get a matched set for hunting and still end up with enough “shooters “ to last awhile. Lot more durable than woods or cheap aluminums at least for me.

GT Blems are junk!

I have bought regular production ones at a very reasonable price. Just shooting some of them through the windshield on an old van in my yard. Very good performance with factory fletch and the brass inserts. With DART blunts punch right through. Tough torture test.

Everyone has their own opinion, but those “junk” shafts have served me well for the last 6 or 7 years. Both for hunting and 3-d.

Seems like very mixed comments about durability of Blems. I think they're great unless you compare them to Warriors. That's what I did. I suspect they might be rejects for more than spine/weight reasons.

I have a few dozen GT trad blems I got from Big Jim. I have more blems than they do. Served me well and I look for them first before other arrows. A few dozen Ted Nugent zebra are used weekly. The pink versions are hard to lose when granddaughters shoot them in the grass.

JK, the warriors are rejects for being out of straightness specs. Otherwise they are what all their other shafts are under the wrap.

They take a black shaft and put camo, wood, or nugent on it.

When the black shaft doesn't make spec, they make warriors out of it.

A few blems showed up on the market, but I have been shying away from Gold Tip. My number 1 seller now is the Beman centershot shafts.

My new shaft BigJims "Dark Timber" should be ready in a couple months. I have been shooting them for some time now and everything has finally come together. More info on them when they are ready to market.
