Had two close encounters hunting with my self bow. Had two little deer and mama came in. The little button buck was within ten yards but couldn't get off a shot. Second close call was a flock of Turkeys came in, I was trying for the Gobler but two hens came in behind me. They were 10 yards away and when I tried to draw, Putt, Putt, and they were gone.

One day hunting with my son I was hunting next to a swamp. I sat down with my back against a tree for a little break. I heard a Yelp, Yelp, of a Turkey across the swamp. I put my mouth call in and yelped back with a few cuts. The Turkeys across the swamp starting flying over landing all around me. I had 30 birds landing like B52's the nearest one was a Jake 10 yards away. I pulled back my self bow horizontal and couldn't get to full draw but let her loose. I shoot right between his legs. My son was in a tree stand watching and still talks about it.

Thanks HH! It's 62" NTN and draws 62 pounds at 27". It's only the second selfbow I've made.

I guess I posted this one on a different thread. Felt funny about reposting it. It's my second selfbow buck and I'm as thrilled with it as my first. It's not as nice as yours capehunter1, but their all throphies to me.

I saw this little six point lay down in drain ditch. I snuck up to him and shot him with my "Simply Orange " osage selfbow. Nine yards while he was laying down. Was wishing he would stand up but he didn't. He never saw me or the arrow. Went about 90 yards and fell over.

I finished a 58" 48# sinew and snake backed black locust on Saturday and got lucky yesterday when this young buck came by...the bow's first hunt was a good one.

thanks... I just finished the bow, but it's just about like every other bow I ever made so there's not much of a learning curve... :) He came in at about 15 yards, took 2 steps and then turned just right...it all was over in a few seconds. He jumped back into the woods after the shot so I waited about 20 minutes before going to look. I could see him lying on the ground as soon as I entered the trees...he only went about 30 yards. I found an "in" and an "out" hole where the arrow went through his heart once I got him skinned and quartered. It didn't take long to remember why I prefer a doe...once I started skinning the stinky dude. :)

To celebrate Howard Hill's birthday mojo, my son Cody Hill took a Hill style bow and went deer hunting today.
