Got my new Black Hunter recurve today. It's the Sino Arts version. $114 shipped. w/seal skin shelf pad (chinese version LOL), stringer, and an assortment of brass nocks. Note: the Sino Arts version from amazon.com, is stocked in the US and took only 4 days to deliver. Pictures with cell phone, so they're not absolute quality.

It's 55#@28". The only marking on the bow is the weight on the bottom limb, covered by slide on quiver.

I shot it and seems reasonably smooth, fast, and quiet once string silencers added.

Also noteworthy...all black hardware. Also I did some draw force measurements: 26"=51#, 27"=53.6#, 28"=56.2#, 29"=58.8#. This is alot better than the maple limbed Black hunter I had and returned which had 4# + increases after 27".

FYI, this has maple limbs.

Grip feels good. In my 10 yard home range(garage) The accuracy was exceptional.

I think this bow will serve me well since my Samick Stingray self destructed.

The verdict is still out on the string. I'm going to RMSG tomorrow to do some shooting and experimenting. We'll see how it works out. May have to add a FF string.

All in all, I'm satisfied.

Looks like a pretty good bow for the money. Lucky you, going to RMSGear tomorrow. I was there 1-1/2 years ago while visiting my sister in Erie. Definitely an addictive place. I walked out with a 48# 1957 Kodiak! Give us a further update after your visiit. Lance

I have two of the longbow version and love them both. They are exceptional bows at any price but at a little over 100 dollats almost essm too good to be true..

Amazon carries both the longbow and recurve versions, and spare limbs as well. The spare lumbs shio from china, but the bows are stocked in the u.s. warehouses. Search amazon for SinoArts 60" takedown recurve or longbow. They give $6.00 off right now.

Spelling.....spare limbs ship from china. Also the black hunter that stavked after 27" was the longbow version with maple limbs.

I bought the Galaxy Ember longbow from Lancaster Archery (same bow with bamboo limbs) and it is 60" and no stack out to 30" draw. It is an absolutely outstanding bow in all respects.

Ember longbow from Lancaster Archery. I got one in a trade. Very well made bow. Shoots better than some of the $$$$$ bows I have had.

What size limb bolts are on your Black Hunter and Galaxy Ember bows, 1/4” or 5/16”?

I,be heard of bows with either of these limb bolts. Whereas here in US the standard is 5/16”.

Just bought a set of bamboo core longbow limbs that are 1/4” but my two Black Hunters are 5/16” so will have to drill out the hole in these limbs so they fir my handles.

These are 5/16", or a near metric equivalent.

Just returned for a shooting session at RSMG. The string experts there are in agreement that the factory string is not b-50 dacron, something harder. So maybe the reviews from Twig Archery are correct that it has some type of low stretch string material. (Dyneema or some other chinese version????).

It shot the arrows that were spined for my 55lb Stingray like darts, so no need to buy a FF string. Re-checked the weight on their scale and it came in at 57#, A little higher than the compound shop down the road, but the draw force measurements at different draw lengths showed the same differences.

I'm happy with it.

LOL...that guy in the video has b@lls.

The string that came with is some type of low stretch like fast flight or D-97. It is an endless string and 16 strands. Way too many strands for a 35# bow. Haven’t used that string but do shoot it with 12 strand D-97 or 12 strand B-50, both of which are Flemish.

B-50 is quieter but has a little thump. No thump with the D-97 but am having a little difficulty getting it quiet. I sure do like the way it shoots with the D-97 Flemish string.

Oh all my limbs are longbow.

Good reviews on the Galaxy Ember. Who would have thought we'd be able to get quality stuff like that for such little money. And from China.

From: Bassman Professional Bowhunters Society - Qualified Member

Try puff balls to get it quiet.

From: Stix

Catwhiskers, installed like mine in the pics quieted it right down. The longbow versions that I had in both maple and bamboo limbs also were whisper quiet with them.

I've been hunting with my Black Hunter longbow lately. It has the cat whiskers and is pretty quiet. I just use the string that came with the bow from Twig Archery.

Good lookin bow.

Already have wool on mine. It has a higher pitched ping than I’d like. With B-50 and same wool silencers it is very quiet.
