Got a few more Browning Micro Flytes with Bear razorheads installed, over the weekend. Q: How do I get them out? I checked the archives, nothing. I heated the razorheads up and they won’t budge. I’d rather not wreck these, I just want these razorheads out.

They are on glue-in adapters, Just keep heating them a little hotter and they will come off. Then clean the inserts of the glue residue. I don't know what they used but it's pretty stinky. It will give up though if you keep at it. Do not get fire onto the shaft though.

Yeah George, I heated up the head only, but the heat carried into the shaft. I thought they might be glued on an insert, but I don’t see any glimmer of an insert. That area before the head got really hot, I was afraid it would melt the end of the shaft. I’ll give it another shot, thanks for the tip.

A wet rag sounds like a good idea, thanks for the tip.

Mike, sometimes the heat will let you pull the insert out of the shaft. There is one in there for sure. If that occurs, then you can put the insert in a vise and heat the point till it twists off. I've done many of them. After you get them out, only use hot melt.

It may be my imagination, but it looks like the base of that Razorhead was hit with a small chisel to lock the head onto the aluminum insert. That could be why the head wouldnt pull off the insert and you had to pull the insert from the shaft. They used hot melt glue for a reason.

If not using bleeder fife the inside to remove the ridge from those marks, easier to true broadhead on taper. Maybe someone can explain it better.

I've used Bear Razorheads since 1966 and never had an issue with alignment. Don't know you would get rid of the indent without filling it clear off...which would make an open slot where it is now, making it weak on both sides.

Mike, I would use a high-speed cutter to keep from crushing the fibers at the cut area. You can use a tubing cutter if you have a snug fitting bushing of some sort to support it inside. I would find a high-speed saw. Your arrows will last longer overall.

They have a cutoff saw for carbons at our club, I expect that will work. You could bring them next Tuesday, ask Paul to help. Microflites! What's next, a dozen carbons? Chuck S

No carbons for me. Wood only. The Micro-Flytes are just for saving.
