Liquid Tension, very few in our area. Twenty-five years ago there would have been more. On a Saturday I may see a couple cars or trucks parked in the access areas. This particular SGL has 10,800 acres, and there is another one twelve miles down the road that has another 8,000 plus acres. Hunter numbers have dwindled over the past two decades as well. Right now you would likely run into a turkey hunter rather than a bowhunter since that season started last Saturday.

It's pretty easy to get away from most everyone out in my area. The public land around the greater Pittsburgh and Philadelphia areas are much more crowded, of course that is were most of our population lives. I'm a poor country boy out here in rural Pa., and very happy about that.

Awesome pics. This is a shot from where I've been sitting against a large tree 20 yards from edge of swamp. This afternoon a doe stepped out straight ahead. She eye-balled me and started doing the head-bob game. She did walk five yards closer, turned broadside, and I got to half draw when she caught me in that position. Jumped back into swamp to safety.

4finger, is that Monument Valley? Sorta looks like it. I HAVE to see that place, spend a couple days in there, been to all the SW Utah/N AZ parks but that one. Drove by it, could not stop. Here is my hideout yesterday. Can you see the tom? Seven of them came within very good shooting range, walked right up, but didn't show in my lane because they silouhetted me against the sunset, but I had a shot, problem is, season closed Friday. Grrr. That is the story of my hunting life. No deer showed up of course.

This is the lane. The turks were just to the right of it. I was right in line with the sunset so they picked me off before they got to it. Couldn't have shot one anyway, season closed. But it just figures it would be them instead of a deer.

4, Nice, been there. Drove out to some bluffs along the Canyonlands rims. Talked to some ole fella that was the last wrangler to run horses down in the bottom, in the spot where they filmed the car suicide scene from Thelma and Louise. We also drove up the Green River canyon to some place called Cedar Canyon or something like that. Bunch of promontories there, and a small community, and a winery along the river. I will say this, I don't like Denny's, but the Moab Denny's was pretty darn good too!

All rain over here in Bedford County. Would like to see some snow in the woods. Anyway, here is a shot of a Browning Safari 54" against the only standing building left at the old Wilhelm place. It's now part of SGL 48, and this photo was taken five years ago. Since then it has joined the environment as well. This was an old outhouse. Nature tore that little brown building down. ;)

This type of Thread, is why I have loved coming here for so long. George thank you so much for starting it and to all who have contributed to it. The beauty in these photos, yet so many will never see. As George said there are fewer people out there in the woods to enjoy the view. True art by the Master captured in a photo. DANNY

Got out in the spot they were in yesterday. The two were bedded already before dawn and bolted on my approach to stand. They are pretty much nocturnal here but the snow and cold is going to force them into feeding during the day. Today is the last dayof regular bow. Tomorrow the war zone starts, usually at least 45 min before legal hrs. I will stick close to home (where I have seen most of the deer anyway). The elk and mulie kill shots making me,itch to retire and move back out west. One more year from this Jan.

They were bedded right under these birch this morning. There are two loaded crabapple trees next to this spot, that they had visited prior to bedding down. I will be checking this spot again, hiding somewhere nearby in wait. Cold will bring them back here to eat the fruit.

...stalk ME!

I put them out down in the birches again, only this time I saw three of them. They tried sneaking out through the weeds and cattails, but I heard them, so I went out toward the open field after them, and they took off. One crossed the road and two walked right behind the house into the swamp in back of it (their daytime lair). They were does and fawns. The buck, well, I could hear him sneaking, crawling through the cattails but he didn't show himself and I didn't want to walk out toward the houses down the road from us, so he got away again. The suckers are evasive here in CNY. One of these days they are gonna make a wrong move though. Supposed to go down to minus 1F TG night, high of 17F. Maybe it will numb their brain, and make them think about eating and not escaping.
