I don't think its worth it but I'm cheap. Antique stores are full of serviceable cheap draw knives. I bought a farriers rasp from local Agway years ago for $27. Scrapers are easy to make from scrap steel, I like old sawzall blades. Tiller rack or stick can be scabbed together out of free scrap lumber. I just don't think it's wise use of $100 plus shipping for first bow

Not in my opinion. Buy a farriers rasp at a farm store for $18, a 9" Shinto saw rasp for $30 and a nice, heavy scraper for $10-12. Its all you need start to finish. If you move unto staves then you'll need a draw knife. I use a 5/32 chain saw file for string grooves.

Yea sorry I forgot you said board bow. You won't need a drawknife for a board bow, so temporarily scrap my antique store, draw knife suggestion

All good advice. I'll add my two cents. Start as cheap as possible understanding that for the next 30 years you will be buying more and better tools you don't need with money you don't have. I love it

Onehair has it....Ha!Ha!
I took my advise from Pearl when I started, I use the same as he is using and have added a couple other things that you will discover as you go along.
