Is there a good quality Bow hunting show on tv? Which and where?

Ive been watching a lot of youtube bowhunting videos. We got rid of cable years ago.

But like TV there are good and bad ones.

Fred Eichler's shows.

I don't watch any of them on TV, most are just infomercials filmed at ranches that also charge for hunting, so it's not reality anyway. Been a couple years since we ditched those channels. YouTube has a better selection of videos to look through. Clay Hayes has some good ones, and KUIU were good as well.

There is a good program I watch on Netflix called Meateater. It has some bow hunting, but is mostly rifle. I like it because the guy probably shows more unsuccessful hunts than successful.

He spends a lot of time reflecting on why he hunts and ALWAYS eats what he kills. It's a pretty good show.

No not really. They are all a big commercials. I have not watched a hunting show in years that have discussed any real strategy or given anything useful.

I like Primos even though its not trad. They seem genuine and seem like good folks. Will Primos was on a mountain elk hunting when 911 happened and he had a really good commentary on it plus they are not afraid to include God.

YouTube is the place to watch hunts.

If I had to pick one show to watch, it would be Meat Eater! Not a lot of bow hunting, but good ethical hunting. The other so called bow hunting shows are ridicules any more.

Quit watching that stuff years ago for all the reasons listed in previous threads, Lost the channels when Spectrum took over, I did like watching Jim Shockey (sp) though.

Not really, they are all commercailized, Maybe Fred once while, primos. I pitched an idea to History channel about a show, the premise was each episode, picks a bowhunter or hunter, pics a certain hunt, then with real footage or re enactment, go through the hunt, tell of equipment and the hunter. Told not enough interest.

Easton's Bowhunting TV (Fred Eichler's? show.

I like Relentless Pursuit as well, but he hunts with an Onieda bow. Love Meat Eater, but rarely is it Bowhunting.

Fred Eichler can be goofy but he has obvious enthusiasm and passion.Better than most.

Zero TV hunting channels for me. Just YouTube when weather pins me inside, otherwise I go watch what the Great Spurit has to offer for the day.

I was flipping through the guide the other night and saw there was a show about bowhunting northern CA mule deer on the Outdoor Channel. As I live and hunt in northern CA I was interested. It turned out to be a husband and wife team who flew out to visit their wealthy retired NBA player friend and shoot half-tame deer with compounds in the affluent suburban Sacramento subdivision where he lived. The wife literally shot her deer from the house. Her poor shot in the buck's hip with minimal penetration was on the video. Fortunately she must have hit a major blood vessel because they recovered the deer.

I know that if I objected to the show I could have changed the channel, but it was kind of like a train wreck from which I could not look away. I know it has been stated on this forum many times, but shows like these turn non-hunters into anti- hunters.

The Hunting Public on YouTube is really good.

TV plain out stinks. Everything is overcommercialized. Get some old videos and watch them. The Wensels had some good ones. TV imo is one big informercial. Guys are being brainwashed and don’t even know it.

Clay Hayes. Shoots self bows that he makes and is not about trophies. Guy is down to earth family man. Actually refreshing in todays sponsored big name Gurus. Maybe he will change in time also, but his vids are more about reverence for the sport and the game he chases.

I like Tim wells. Also use to watch tred barta

Hunting is a personal experience to me. Seldom even take photos of my game let alone video. Have no interest in watching someone else's hunt.

Martin Archery has a show on the tube ,but for the life of me ,everything they show(tried to watch 3 different episodes) all they used were guns?! now being a bow making company ,you'd think ,they would try using their own products

The tv hunting is Good for the economy and that's about all IMHO.

I watch Jim Shockey and Ted Nugent. Usually I never find anything interesting on that channel anymore. I paid a bunch o money to get the higher package to be able to watch the Outdoor Channel too. Way more interested in You-Tube.

Fred Eichler is my favorite on TV. I met him once and he is a super nice guy . They don’t show Tred Barta on there anymore but I have a couple of his dvd’s, his shows are pretty good. Definitely no canned hunts with him.

They're all garbage. Check out youtube for good, homemade footage.

I second Clay Hayes, The Push High Country video and Eichler. The High Country is one of the best I've seen and it's public land. Shows usually dont hold my interest that long but I watched it all the way through. There's another Channel called Solo Hntr that has some good hunts. They're aren't always traditional or all archery for that matter but they have one of the best traditional bow mountain goat hunts I've seen. The Clay Hayes elk hunt from this year is a good one as well.
