I'd say nice shooting. I got to compete in the 1st Trad. world in the Primitive class and everyone was real nice. That was my first competition and probally my last. I did get to see all kinds of different styles of shooting. I don't shoot three under but gap shoot past 20 yards with my self bows.

I think that someone hacked your account. The last thing on earth for someone should be to judge how the others are holding their fingers on the string.

Is there a trad/primitive police? I never met someone to really fit the description. They don't survive the cold here maybe ...

Here we go again- Every time this comes up I post this old pic of Art Young shooting the longbow 3 under. Over 100 years ago; wooden longbow. (Didn't watch him tiller it, no comment on that!)
But, I do get unhinged over a shelf on a bow. But that's MY problem; so I'm the only one I have arguments with.... ;-)
Of course don't cut into the riser enough to weaken it- but I'm sure y'all know better than that! I don't care how anyone else sets up their own equipment, just hope they enjoy it and shoot well.

Well I don't know any Trad police. I take that back. I know quite a few cops that shoot Trad! Seriously I am sure somewhere there was a knuckle dragger that shot three under. Maybe he was laughed at but probably not if it made him shoot better than everyone else. Accuracy and distance proves a lot. Do what you like and enjoy how you get it done. Arvin

Just pull the string back and cut one loose. Do it enough times and some level of proficiency will begin. All the critical debate is the underlying cause of mental target panic, target panic is man made out of conceptual confusion.

Hey, I DID shoot with a "Trad" policeman last month! OK, he was a retired sheriff's deputy. He was shooting his own self-made self Yew longbow- 91#@28" split finger, but he did cut a shelf into it. Murdered us at Archery Gold.
I suppose I could have made a "Trad" Citizens arrest because of the shelf but I like the guy & need all the archery friends I can get.

Most “native” North Americans used a form of pinch grip. Look up talon silverhorn on YouTube. He is a native Easter shawnee and is a professional reenactor at colonial Williamsburg. His style( and most subsistence hunters. Shoot nothing like the target style used at “trad worlds” or any other target archery contest

In that old picture it looks like Art Young is using an 'Olympic' under-the-chin anchor. Facewalking for longer distance?
I've given up on the whole 'traditional' thing. I shoot 'Senior Traditional' in competition because that's what they call us old farts with stick bows. Other than that I think of myself as a recurve shooter who happens to shoot 3 under, single anchor and tab. (And stringwalking is great for getting on the wrong side of your brain! ;-) )

Re Michael Schwistr - "What is “neo”? SW? FW? "
'Neo' is the new pejorative term for self-appointed johnny-come-lately 'that's not trad !' types. String Walking and Face Walking.

Of course it is "neo to SW or FW a selfbow". SW, FW, arrow shelves, shooting form are all very recent discoveries in the archery world. Nobody ever heard of or used them more than 5 or 10 years ago.

What you do in competition only matters if it's breaking written rules.(Different Orgs have slightly differnt rules)
What you do at home outside of competition only matters to you.
This is how most of us think, it's not really a difficult concept
