So getting back into shooting my bow. So long story short I'm shooting a footed arrow this a.m. in my garage with a hill head into a foam target about 8yds back. Working on anchor and form and all that. I notice with the footed shaft I've about 3" of arrow hanging out the site window. I could have sworn I drew almost to the base of the head. Not anymore. I am lacking a good 3" of draw. I am wondering if that is because of not shooting or I'm about 15 yrs older?

Well, if you're not hunched over like Quasimodo, it may just be your natural draw. If you're engaging your back into the draw and shooting well, then I wouldn't be concerned too much. Three inches is a lot though, just go through your form check and see if it's all working right.

Fifteen year older eyes can play tricks on you. Put a clothes pin on the arrow and draw back. That won't lie. You can also reach up with your bow hand index finger touching the ring on the insert then sliding back to the riser. If you are like me, your fingers often tell you more than your eyes will. You may want to put a tape measure on your arrows. I'm shooting full length Gold Tips now and full length is not the same on all of the shafts.

The mind can play havoc also ya know. At least I found that out with myself. Maybe you changed up draw a little here or there too?

I have a picture my wife took of me in 1971 at full draw with a 28" arrow drawn to the point. I now am drawing "a bit" shorter. It happens.
