I would think about single-lead, copper, electrical wire. Could use the bare ground wire, or a wire with the insulating sheath. Around a 12 or 14 gauge should work well and be available by the foot at a home improvement box store.

Actually try weed eater line. It's easier to get through the channel in the bring and more flexible than wire.

Found some weed eater line, probably not as thick as would be ideal but it keeps the brim up and is very very soft.
thanks for the tip fdp. This hat has been through some good hunts with me and has a patch on it I really like so its easier for me to fix it than buy a new one.

I thought the idea of a bendable brim was to bend it and shape it out of the way. Weed eater line won't do that. I would try some copper wire.

I've done it both ways, wire and weed eater line. For ME, the weed eater line works best, because it is soft enough to push out of the way, when you hit it with your bowstring, and you will.
Herbert.....I have a couple of hats I feel the exact same way about.
