I have about a dozen vintage swift and gamgetters--2018 and 2216. I need to re- fletch and replace the nocks. is 5/16th the right choice for these? Also, i've been fletching all my wood in 5" shield or parabolic. Would like to get a little more speed out of these, what are the drawbacks of going 4"? THanks!!!

5/16 OK for the 2018 but may be small for the 2216. We used to like to cover at least 3/4 of the shafts cone with the nock.

2018's I use 5/16 nocks, 2216 I use 11/32 nock. "For me" if I use 5/16 nocks on anything larger than a 20 series size aluminum shaft I have had more than my fair share of the nocks split on release of the string. The nock taper, on the larger aluminum shafts, for the poundage bows I shoot, seems to act as a splitting wedge on that 5/16 nock. Any 21 series or 22 series shaft/arrows that I buy now that have the 5/16 nocks, I ALWAYS change them out. Arrow nocks are cheap compared to blowing a bow limb tip, caused by a Dry Fire situation. Just what I do from what has happen to me in the past. I am sure you will have other say there is not a problem. DANNY

I agree! 5/16 for the 2018 and 11/32 for the 2216 should work. I doubt you’ll notice a difference between the 4” and the 5” fletching. Glue a few up. Nothing kills curiosity but the results. Have fun! Lance

5/16” nocks will work fine on both shafts. I prefer the smaller nock all the time.

Have never had an issue with nocks breaking from just releasing of string. Somethings not correct with installation if that is the case.

I'm pretty sure that I was counseled to get 1/4" for my 1816s and 9/32 for the 1916s...

I use 5/16s for my 20XX because I have them on hand, but I think if I were buying a hundred, I'd probably go with the 9/32 for both 19XX and 20XX...

I noticed that you can get nocks (Marco BJ) in 11/64 to go on those 2216s if you happen to prefer a slimmer nock between the fingers... As I do.

Please be aware, some older 2216, 2117, and 2219 and probably others, the swaged end was tapered to accept a standard 5/16 nock. You'll just have to check - my old autumn orange 2216 and 2219 all take a 5/16, and I have about 16 old camo shafts (new, uncut) that are tapered to 5/16. I don't think easton has made any tapered for 5/16 for a while, but many older shafts are tapered.

Pretty easy to tell if it's a tapered shaft from 21 or 22/64 down to 5/16. If you have the nocks in your possession, then just try and see what you prefer. I have 5/16 and 11/32 nocks but I normally use 5/16 on the aluminum, whether 20, 21 or 22. The 11/32 works on my cedars.

Thanks everyone. I ordered both. HAve some that fit on, but left some exposed taper. These are the super oldschool gamegetter solid green with the stencilled lettering. Shaft themselves are pretty skinny by easton standards IMO. THanks again!
