Outside of the Dale Dye I bought I also bought a Savage River t/d by Dave Guthrie. Anyone know any particulars on this bow? Mine is 58#@28" and 58" long. Beautiful bow I'll say that. Now just wish that Dye would get here! thanks and keepem sharp

I knew Dave and shot some of his bows back in the 80's when I met him at the W.V. Bowhunter's Festival. Great bows and good shooters. If you found one, then you should have a good bow as long as it fits you. I had one of his Middle Mountain longbows and a one piece recurve. I shot one of his Savage Mountain takedowns at the festival and liked the grip and the balance of that bow.

We used to take a big table of used bows and accessories there to sell as a vendor. Dave has been out of the business for a couple decades now.

I bet you’ll love the bow. He made a great bow back in the day. I only had one I bought new from him. Mine was when he got the bad glass of course. Lol. Lasted about 10 shots. It was in my lap and I was tying on my nock and BOOM. !! exploded and sounded like a 12 ga went off in my ear. Had to throw those drawers away. Lol.

Dave made and sold lots of bows. He was great at supporting state bowhunter groups and donated many bows to their auctions. He started with the Appalachian flat bow then developed several other models. His Elk Mountain recurve was a one piece 50's model. He also made a TD called the Musselshell TD. He named his bows after places he had hunted.

I miss my Savage River takedown. My first custom bow and the one I shot the best!

Those tips were Dave's "trademark". His Appalachian Flatbow was one of the finest flatbows that was ever made. He was a very good bowyer.

One of my all time favorite bowyers. I really like red elm in a bow. He made some beauties.
