I shot at 20 yds. I've been to the right with my last 3 first shots. Gotta work on that. Have a great weekend guys and good luck to everyone hunting. Jim
10,15 & 20 walk back and in that order top to bottom. If it wasn't for gravity, I couldn't hit the ground. Just terrible so I did a redo at 17 yrds sitting.......
Spent a couple hours in the stand feeding the mosquitoes. Got back to the house and took a shot at 23yds elevated off the back deck slightly quartering away.
Yesterdays 1st shot was a miss high at about 17 yrds sitting on a stool at a real doe with my 51# Yellowstone Hunter. :^( Today I shot the same, but in very low light. The pic shows it a little darker than it actually was. But still hard to pic a spot. Hit lower than I wanted.
Hmmm. That's odd. The pic in my gallery is a lot darker than the one I posted. I only have 1 pic of the shot. The one posted is about the lighting I had.
I posted this on another thread, but my first shot(s) yesterday… These are the first shots ever for me from the 52 inch Thunderbird, having shot 62 inch-plus bows for the last 30 years....
I was shooting at the white bullseye (lower right quadrant). I don’t know what I was expecting, but (at about #10 lighter than my regular shooters), it sure felt smooth. I wasn’t thinking about the length at all, so I didn’t notice any pinch; and for my first 10 shots in almost a week at a real 20 yards, I can’t say that I was way off. (Didn’t shoot great with the RER yesterday, either...). And interestingly, the few shots that hit high and dead center were ones where the shot kinda happened without me. Call it Snap-Shooting, Target Panic or Instinctive if you want, I just felt like I knew I was lined up so I let it tip and the bow shot flatter than I had expected it to.
So if I raise the BH a bit, set her up with a side plate and maybe something on the shelf...
Incidentally... the three shots high and centered are a 1916, a 600 and a 500. The one bad flyer to the left is a 2114 which never quite seems to be behaving properly, so I think it needs a new nock and/or a trip across the spinner... Larger group at 4:00 includes several 500s, a 600, 2 AD Trad Lite tapered carbons (with a huge amount of extra weight up front) and a bare-shaft 1916.
So this bow is not exactly demanding WRT spine requirements...
First shot ever with this magna flite maximum that was horribly spray painted. 64", 45# @ 28". Shooting the swift 2016 4 fletched arrow that came with it. Shot is 18yrds uphill. A little twangy, but man, I think I'm going to love this bow. Really seems to mesh with my 31"+ draw. Also seams FAST! Thanks for the call, headed into the woods for a few hours!
Good shooting ,gang. I set up a couple of new-to-me bows this weekend, including this 1962 Howatt Hunter, 50#, that I took these first 6 shots with different spine arrows from 25 yards.
