I was digging through the bottom of my file drawer and found this Nicholson file. Obviously it says:
Nicholson USA Made in USA 2nd Cut It is tapered at the end and tapered on one side while the opposite side is thicker and smooth. Does anyone know if this file was used in some particular application?? Thanks TLM

It's called a Knife file. Used for mill work. IT is the only file I have used for 30 years for broadhead and knife sharpening.

It has a little discoloration, but looks like it was never used. Thanks Bob and Ron. Ill get a handle for it and learn how to use it. TLM

Yep, knife file. They come in different sizes and cuts too. I use them a lot at work and in the shop. I carried a 4" knife file with the tang cut off and rounded in my pocket at work for many years.
The knife edge, the safe edge, and the narrow tip, especially on the 4" ones come in handy when getting into tight spaces, or corners to remove tool marks and such on bows and guns. There's a few of them everywhere I've got files hanging.
Do yourself a favor and get a 4" one too.
