Howdy all.

This will be my first year hunting with a longbow, a 68" one at that.

I have a ground blind (old compost bin made out of 2x4s) that is about 4 feet tall. Do you guys have any chairs you recommend to shoot from while sitting? Or should I try to stand up to get the shot? Or just cant the bow a LOT? I am new to longbows, and am open to any recommendations! Thank you, Rick

can shoot mine sitting on the ground by canting

but prefer seat for some comfort for long sits

Been using a hammock seat or Nifty seat

but have a Waldrop pack seat comming and loooking foward to using it

I have tried the Waldrop, its a nice chair, well made, but I can not shoot out of it....... research this every year on the site, some nice chairs out there, but most are coming in at 8lbs or more,,,,,, too heavy

I need a back, this year, at 3.8lbs I will be using the Millenium tree seat,,,,, came with a shoulder strap, got rid of that, put on the millennium back pack strap, that came with another stand of theirs, and so I am hands free

I am not able to stand on my feet in one place for more than a few minutes so I carry a foam pad and can sit on a log, rock, stump or whatever. When I sit, I always make sure I an easily and quietly get back on my feet to make a shot. Clear loose brush under and around. I don't sit like you would in a chair. More like a leaning sit against the log, feet on the ground but no weight on them. For a blind, I would get a 6 gallon bucket with lid. Fill it with foam or old clothes to deaden sound and use a piece of plywood as a seat with a thick foam seat pad, like they use on a boat for a throwable PFD. I've used that before and can sit for a few hours comfortably. The 6 gallon is high enough so you can stand up easily. When you go home, cover the whole thing in a black plastic bag and leave it there.

I agree with what N. Y. Yankee said.

I have just gotten the Waldrop. I shot out of it everyday with no problems. I do need to turn the chair so that my bow shoulder is pointing at the target

i've done with NY suggested, only used a boat seat with a back rest. but it makes the bucket top heavy so one would need to add some weight to the bottom so it wont tip over when standing up.

Thank you for all the suggestions! The Waldrop looks awesome, but for my budget I think I will go with the bucket idea! I will have to make one this weekend and give er a try! Thanks, Rick

Have the walk stool also

great to carry (light and compact )

just gets rough on long sits

Rick, I just finished making one from a fold down plastic boat seat from Walmart. Mine is padded and very comfortable as it has a back. It has a swivel base and I attached it to a short four legged wooden bar stool I bought at a garage sale for $1.00. I wish I had taken a picture of it to show you but it is simple to make, cheap and very comfortable. I shortened the legs on the bar stool for me to sit with my feet still on the ground but still long enough for me to quietly rise to a standing position if able to.

looks like even the deer are carrying the bucket seat

I retract my suggestion. Even the deer like the buckets so that has to be the way to go.

I like the Millennium as well, but it is rather bulky and heavy to carry. When I plan to move a lot or far, I carry a hammock seat.

I got a Waldrop before turkey season. Like the backpack feature to haul decoys etc. Looking forward to using it during deer season As above, I point my shoulder toward the target, then I can shoot my long bow without any issues. The seat is well made.

The Sportsman's Guide has whats called the featherweight blind chair. Weights only 4.6 lbs. folds up and has a carry strap. Pretty comfortable and sells for $27. I like it for comfort and being portable. Joel

Millennium G100 Blind Chair

Cabelas 360 but its heavy you need 2 men and a boy to carry.LOL

Well not really but it is heavy and works sweet. I think the millennium is the same as the 360 Cabelas told me but less money.

Wal-Mart now offers a nice 360 chair for around $39.I picked one up yesterday. I haven't released any arrows from it yet. Heck...it rains every day here in Pa. jon

I used the Chama chair down in Florida for a pig hunt earlier this year. I really liked it. Super quiet to rotate around, great support. The carrying case is perfect too. Nicest thing I liked was it broke down to be about 8" diameter. So using the carrying bag, or just strapping to my pack was really easy.

I am planning to hunt in my ghillie suit this deer season sitting in this chair. It is easy to lug in and out than the Huntmore I have been using.

We sell them too (of course right?). So you can see them here: https://www.3riversarchery.com/chama-all-terrain-swivel-hunting-chair.html

My go to is handicap shower chairs I come across at garage sales. Some have backs, some are extra wide, almost all have independently adjustable legs.

They are white plastic and aluminum so I give them a paint job with a can of brown auto primer and a couple stripes of flat black to break up the shape.

0n average I have about five dollars apiece into them, there waterproof, inexpensive, adjustable and comfortable.

I carry one with me on scouting trips and when I find an area I like I flip it upside down with the legs in the air and stash it there, they almost disapeer in the woods. When its time to hunt its one less thing I have to take with me. . I dont worry about anybody stealing them or having them rot or disenagrate in the woods. . Good Day
