I just picked up a few weeks back my first Great Northern bow . I have shot a couple in the past but it’s been a few years. So when I got my New Fireball and put some arrows through it I thought why am I just now getting one of these. Really pleased with the quality and shoot ability of the bow. So what is yalls favorite bow Great Northern makes ? Here is my Fireball, it’s only 58 inches and has no stacking with my 29 inch draw.

I just bought this one from a fellow Waller and should be in my hands later this week. Super Ghost.

Going to put a jackKnife model next on my list. What do y’all think of them ?

I’ve been shooting a jackknife ghost for 20+ years. The jackknife was especially useful when I traveled more. Superb quality, the bow has become an extension of my hands. Get the strapped on quiver to go with it.

That green Super Ghost is one fine looking bow. I have never shot one though.

I have been shooting Great Northern's for a few years and have gathered a fair number of the bows they have produced.

Some are Jackknife models, some with Straight grips some Indexed grips ,all between 46 and 72 lbs.

They include the following, 4 Bush bows, 3 Critter Gitter Specials, 3 Fireballs including one of the new ones, 2 Critter Gitter's, 2 Ghosts, 1 Lil Creep,1 Traditional , 1 Super Ghost and a couple of older models I can't remember the names of at the moment.

My favorite today is a one piece 58 inch Ghost at 53 lbs.

The thing I have found different with great Northern bows that I have not experienced with other manufactures is the ability to switch from model to model and be comfortable and accurate before I've emptied my first quiver of arrows.

I recently did some informal testing between my current favorite and a 58 inch 55lbs. SA11 BW I own and was pleasantly surprised to discover I had a little flatter cast with the Ghost than the Widow. Don't let the old school designs get you thinking their bows are out of date they will hold their own with the best of them.

The Company's quality and service are outstanding and the ability to call over and talk to the Bowyer is an added plus.

Never shot a Northern I didn't like. Good Day

Great bows. Great lineage coming from Jerry Brumm, now on to Bob Brumm.

Superb quality, affordable.

I own several including several Jack knife models, Ghosts, Bushbows, and Fireballs, even some Critter Gitters. The hinge is an unobtrusive plus. Fold the bow in half and pack it, and Go!

Barber - I have had a few GN - all were excellent! shooting a Bushbow now. Your new Fireball is a great looking bow! I like the dark riser a lot. Can you post a pic of limbs or let me know what they are? Thanks - Chad

I've had a few GNs over the years. Really like the Ghost recurve with the straight grip, but my favorite is a 64-inch Critter Gitter. Jerry quit making the CG in that length some time ago. I don't know if his son is making it in the longer length. I still have one 64-incher. Excellent bow.

I have several, 2 58" critter gitter specials, one is 1pc the other a jackknife and a 56" ghost, all have the straight grip. I love them all, but probably shoot the 1 pc CGS the most, at 54lbs its the lightest of the bunch, the others are 58 & 60lbs and get hunted with more.

another pic... 68" cheetah, 58" 1pc critter gitter (osage veneer and osage riser) and the 56" ghost, red elm and cocobola dymondwood riser. Have a pic of the CGS j/k somewhere too...

Couldn't say enough good things about these GN bows.

Like Liquid Tension posted, if your looking for a superb performing, tired of all that bling, no frills, sleek, subtle but yet elegant bow, Great Northern has the lineup! I've been a fan for decades. That small torque free straight grip is the cat's meow for me, tho he offers one of the best mild locator grips also.

I have a Bushbow that was made in '87 and a Ghost made in '91.

@ Orion,,,Bob said he's bringing back the Critter Getter...and in the 64" length. I'm gonna have to have one before he changes his mind on building them! ;). He was undecided about bringing back the Ghosts and CG's a while back but I talked with him a couple weeks ago and it's in the works.

Here's a sweet Osage Jacknife, 60" 55@28". Point On shooter. Dead quiet too.

From: deerfly

ditto on the ghost being quiet. I think the official namesake is due to it being a copy(a ghost) of a 59 kodiak, but the name definitely fits from a noise standpoint too.
