I've been playing around with this old Bear static tip that I picked up last week, and I'm trying to pinpoint the year and model. Problem is the decals are gone and specs and serial number are gone. I think it's a 55-56 Grizzly, but not sure. 62" dark brown glass back and belly, four maple lams, dual shelf, multi-layer underlays on belly side of statics. My buddy Craig ( monkeyball) is going to post pics for me later tonight as I am photo illiterate. Sure would appreciate any help with I'd.

If multi layer wood lams on belly side of tips, no silk screens, dark glass and dual shelf it's a 1955.

I think the tip overlays were redone?

Looks like a 1955- my personal favorite year for both Grizzlys (got three) and Kodiaks.

Is that an SBD string? How do you like it? Curious to try one on my Kodiaks- the static tip Griz is a much quieter design in my experience.

Yep, it's a 1955 Grizzly. Sweet shooters, and I love the look of the belly side tip overlays without the built up brush nocks you see on earlier models and on the K4.

Thanks Craig! Dan, no, not an SBD - just a string I had lying around that fit. I do my own yarn wraps on the strings I make for my hunting bows. And you're right, it is probably the quietest receive I've ever shot.

Thanks for the closeup of the yarn wrap- One of my favorite Kodiak II recurves needs to quiet down a little, I'll see if that helps!

In 1956 Bear went to silkscreen versus decals.

Yeah, since they were gone when I got it, it could be '55 or '56?

I like that profile. It looks almost the same as my static recurve selfbow I've been shooting. Very nice bow thanks for posting. I don't know my bows that well. I really just play around with selfbows. It's nice to see them. That bow is 6 years older than I am. Probably holding it profiles better than I am to.
