Hey guys. So I have some cx heritage 90’s that seem to fit pretty snug on my string. By snug I guess I mean I could darn near hold the arrow and let the bow hang lol. I’ve noticed this seems to be a trend with most carbons I’ve shot. My string is 16 strand b50. It’s an older bow so fast flight isn’t an option. The serving is Brownell .021. I usually do the hot water thing and try to get them fitting better but read on here just to serve to fit. I know how to serve my strings by have no clue what dive material to try to help. I figured somebody here would know. Also it would be cool to hear what strings and serving sizes everybody uses with different arrows. Maybe it could save some guys the trouble of trial and error. Anyway thanks in advance for any suggestions.

What poundage bow are you shooting (I am presuming about 50 lbs. by your shaft size, but that's very subject to several other variations).

The CE 90 is a 9/32 diameter shaft and the nock throat is small. I would go down to a 14 strand string and use crown .018. That should be very close . . .

You can get serving down to .014 That would make your string .014 smaller than .021 serving,or right at 1/64 smaller. Like string maker said drop a couple of strands unless you are shooting very high poundage. What I do is wrap a 1/2 dozen wraps of serving by hand hold it tight and check nock fit. Then go up or down in serving size as needed. I check every time and hate to go by memory but I think I used .021 serving with 12 strands of B55 for my GT nocks. >>>----> Ken

What bow and what weight?

IF Heritage 90's are a good spine for your bow, you don't need 16 strands of B-50. 12 strands would be plenty for a bow shooting what is essentially a 600 spine arrow. With 12 strands your ,021 should work just fine, though I second 2 bears' recommendation - try a few wraps by hand before you serve the whole string.

Go to the local fishing supply store and ask for several samples of monofilement.

Sizes ranging from 0.014 up to 0.021.

Hand wrap each size around your current string and see what works best with your nocks. Serve with mono, or find the corresponding size nylon serving and you ill be good to go. EASY.

I agree with jaz5833 to a point, yes go to the local fishing store but get samples of braided "squid ding" line. Mono is too noisy, braided line softer more supple and will last much longer than mono.

14 strand B-50 with .019 Halo fits Easton S nocks. GT nocks are a little loose.

Hey guys sorry. Great guessing though I do shoot 48 pounds. With a browning wasp. Thanks for all of the input.

Steve, I would use a 12 strand string on that if it were me. B-50 is 50# test per strand and 12 x 50 = 600# test. Plenty for what you have. That would ease the nock fit.

Thanks George! Do you know of a good place to find them that size? Most of the bigger ships only seem to stock 14 and 16.

Extreme bowstrings, 402-750-9621. Ron will make exactly the right size for your bow and nock. In 44 years of archery haven’t found better, found more expensive, but not better!

Full disclosure, I am a staff shooter for Extreme Bowstrings. But I would drop it as fast as I could if I didn’t feel it was the best. Arrowchucker out

If you go with the 12 strands of B50 like George suggested, I would go with .022 serving. As I mentioned above, the nocks for CE 75 and 90's have a small throat size - smaller than most carbon nocks.

born2hunt You can get a good 12 strand Flemish twist string from stilldub ( Barry Hughes) for around $10. He is on eBay and you could also PM him.

You will be amazed at the difference the reduced strand count makes. Those 16 strand endless loop strings rob the bow of a lot of juice!i

Forgot to mention in my earlier post. I do endless loop strings and stretch before doing the center serving.

I'll second Barry Hughes..who goes by stilldub. His strings are as good as anyone else's and about $10.00 shipped. I've bought quite a few from him over the years.
