Looking at the 60" Kodiak Richard has listed. Can anybody tell me how they shoot at a 29" draw? Anything else about the way they shoot and perform would be appreciated.

From: Blackhawk
Date: 15-Aug-18

I've been fortunate enough to land a couple of Richard's bows and can say they shoot and perform as well as any... and better than many.

My draw is less than 29", but I see no reason to think that shooting at 29" would be an issue. He's a perfectionist who makes a great variation of that classic 1960 kodiak Deluxe.

Give "Nemah" a private message and he can sure fill you any with the details.

Needless to say, I am very pleased with both of the bows I have and do not plan to get rid of them anytime soon.

I recently bought one. Even though it is a little chubby in the grip, I shoot very well with it at my 29+" draw. The workmanship is top notch and the wood is outa sight pretty.

I would embrace Brads review he shot more than a couple. Lol.

From: PEARL DRUMS

The pictures make his attention to detail and level of craftsmanship very easy to see. I have never touched or seen one, but wouldn't hesitate to buy one when the time was right.

Here's a piece of art from Richard...but I still like to shoot it.

For the price, which is way under for the quality of his work, they are very nice shooters and VERY NICE CRAFTSMANSHIP. You can't go wrong, with Richards work. JF

My son has one, and it’s as sweet as it looks. Lucky kid!!!

I don’t know what it’s like to shoot an original, but I also don’t really know what more you could ask for in a bow, unless you just don’t like a 60”.

From: ca

I hope to own one someday. They look fantastic.

I have a 56" (i think thats the length) and it is a phenomenal shooter. and beautiful

From: bowhunt

The 1960 Kodiak is a very nice shooting bow in its original form. The design is excellent! So he chose a very good bow to replicate IMO.

I got one of Richards 60 inchers. Its both sexy and elegant in how he made the one I have.I love the looks. They all look great. The craftsmanship is 1st rate.Alot of time goes into finishing one of these bows out by Richard.

I like shooting mine alot. Its one of the 3 bows I own after owning hundreds.Very well balanced bow.Smooth, stable, good speed and shock free. Its well tillered.I draw it 29".No issues. It came with a B-50 string and it shot well with it.I had wool puffs on it.I also shoot a SBD on it with wool puffs thats an 8 strand with built up loops in D-10 material. Its 44# at 29 and I shoot 2016s out of it with 150 and 175 grain points.

I would compare this bow to one of Holcombs Kodiak replicas in overall quality.

I like the grip on this bow.Well shaped and comfortable. The riser is very beautiful with its shape, butcher block style and the extended shelf is stylish.Riser and tip overlays are impeccable.

Very happy owner.

Any idea what they cost New?

From: SB
Date: 14-Feb-19

Really sweet! I've never seen an original 1960 Kodiak Special Deluxe that I would trust shooting. They had glass issues, and delamination problems that year. Now here's one you can actually use! Being retired scrimping by on paltry Soc.Sec. pretty much keeps me out of the new bow market or I would have one on order!

From: Zagnee
Date: 14-Feb-19

Richard prices them very reasonably. I want to get a sixty inch. But I like my 54

From: RymanCat

Wow Brad that's a beauty.

Richard posted a lefty on here a couple of days ago, it was priced at $425 plus $25 for shipping. I bought a lefty about 3 weeks ago, it too was priced at $425.

From: KDdog
Date: 14-Feb-19

Coueskiller owns that build along bow now. I would have kept it, but the grip wasn't right for me either Brad. Mr. Korte does build some beauties.

From: SB
Date: 14-Feb-19

Does that bow have a model name? Or is it just referred to as a 60 Kodiak reproduction? Dang!....the more I look at them ,the more I need to scrounge some cash! What lengths are available?

From: Renewed Archer
Date: 15-Feb-19

SB, Richard doesn't take orders. Smart guy. He builds what he wants and then sells them.

The original KDs that had delamination problems are pretty much all gone by now. The survivors are as sound as any vintage bow of the same age. I've had 11 of them and currently have 6. I don't shoot any one every day but I shoot them fairly often. They are one of the best vintage bows ever made, IMO.

From: bowhunt
Date: 15-Feb-19

"Does that bow have a model name?" Kodiak Deluxe is the bow that these are modeled after SB. Thier pretty Deluxish!

From: SB
Date: 15-Feb-19

If you can't order one how do you get ahold of one? Especially a left-handed one? I've never seen one for sale ANYWHERE!

From: Kodiak
Date: 15-Feb-19

Best looking bow available imo.

The guy improved on the 60 deluxe.

SB, just pm him.

Scales heavier than marked though.

Been a while since I got my Korte but I can accurately tell you about it....it shoots just as nice as it looks....very smooth, I did change the string and set the brace at 7-5/8....added some puff balls, it quieted down and shoots as well as any bow I have ever shot. It seems to like 500 carbons w/145 gr tips.It is marked 40 but pulls 44#. The grip feels kinda chubby in the hand but it shoots where I am looking so this bow is here for good. If you have a chance to get one, don't pass it up!

From: Bowmanmatt
Date: 04-Apr-19

As I mentioned earlier, it’s a hammer. Stable and quiet.

But, mine and another gent’s bow scales 5–7 lbs heavier than marked. My 47lbs is really 54lbs at 28”. I have scaled it multiple times.

Fit and finish is excellent. The grip is a bit chubby compared to the original near bows.

I like mine enough to pay to have the limbs reduced.

Who does the weight reduction in the limbs....I have a 59 that i really like but it is 5 or 6 pound heavier than listed.

From: 2 bears

I have had several through here. Fine craftsmanship. In my opinion they are far superior to Bear and always very exotic wood. They do tend to scale a little heavier than marked. Could be the scales could be the method of weighing but they are fine bows.>>>>-----> Ken

I threw my hat in quick despite this bow being about 5#'s too heavy already, but I'm sure it will bring me great pleasure. It won't be the only thing around my house that likes to disguise their weight. And I couldn't Love her any more either!
