I have a good fishing friend and he asked me to take him elk hunting. I told he he's starting at the top of the heap. Never hunted out of state, never killed an animal with a bow, only compound.

I said let's aim a little lower. Pronghorn is a really cool animal - would you want to hunt for them first.

We planed for 2 years, because of prefernce points and I taught him how to shoot. He has a beautiful Zipper. Last week he split an arrow at 17 yards.

That's the background. On opening day next Wed 8/15 when he's about to walk to his blind I'm going to say, "this is for you look at it when you get to your blind" and put it in his backpack.

Lucky he doesn't come to this site or it wouldn't be a surprise. Knife is by Dave Ricke. Picture just doesn't do it justice.

Nice knife! But, I think it would great to get an elk for a 1st traditional kill. But, then again, so would a pronghorn.

Tim he does. I got one of the bigger ones for my brother, it's sweet. That knife (above) in my opinion is very reasonably priced. Plus I think they come with a life time warrantee on being sharp - send them back and he'll sharpen them. That's probably his life time - lol.

I didn't have time to finish my original post, got called away. I was going to burn on the sheath, 'The journey starts 8/18 and continues...' But the sheath is right side or left side. If it was a normal sheath I would have burned it on the inside.

I think he got the trad bug, because he's shooting twice a day. We'll see if it continues.

This is funny. My buddy, Walt came over to ask a bunch of questions on what to bring. One was, "what kind of knife should I bring"?
