Some cooler weather today so I got out between the rain 'events' that have been going on all year. Was good just to do some roving.

Looking down toward the farm fields that are the west border of this particular section. SGL 48 is 10,800 acres on Wills Mountain here about two miles from my house.

Nice George. Got a call from #1 son this morning as he was finishing up a hike with his bird dogs west of you a ways. He saw some bear tracks and scat. The dogs put up some woodcock and a couple pheasants. He said it was a beautiful morning in the mountains. I miss that. Nothing even close in North TX.

This would have been a great shot at thirty yards. It was a good shot at fifteen. ;)

Tools today were a recently found Samick CA-60 from a few years ago, Microflite arrows and home made Asbell style quiver. Bow weighs about 14 ounces.

Awesome! I need to get out and do some of that myself... soon. I'll take some pics too.

I did go out today on SGL 95 and find a bunch of lovely chanterelles, but they were a bit past their prime so I let them be.

Thanks for the vicarious trek, George.

These are my favorite posts. I really enjoy seeing everyones stomping grounds. Looks like some pretty country there George. That must be pretty cool having access to that much acreage in your back yard. I have a couple 5,000 acre designated wilderness areas within 20 minutes of my house, one 47,000 wilderness area a little farther away and more national forest and state forest land than I will ever be able to explore in my lifetime. I cant tell you how much that land means to me. I am sure you feel the same. Thanks for sharing. Dave

George...our camp is just a few ridges east of you on Tussey Mountain near the "booming metropolis" of Beans Cove! I've never thought about stumping the Buchanan SF but maybe I should. Either that or SGL 97.

Matt

Buchanan is pretty big but worthy of some roving. Lots of territory down there to roam.
