Im curious if anyone has carefully separated the feathers and used a permanent marker to color a section of the feather like a splice? maybe masked off the part to keep from getting some on the rest? if you have post a pic

I think they will run togethe if they get wet. I have seen fellas take light colored feathers and dip them partially in dye.

Straight koolaid and some water make a great feather dye. Lots of colors and cheap.

I some times splice a small section of feather to do a quick repair on some of my older arrow feathers. It works for a short time but eventually you will probably need to strip your arrows and do a full refletch.Yeah the sharpie fake striping has been done but not the best way.Unless your real poor just buy the color and shape fletching you want.Bright colors are nice and helpfull but if I get free natural feather I can process them myself. You can even dye them as previously suggested. On a different note back in the 50 's and early 60 's it was hard and more expensive to get plane non barred feathers.Today however it's the opposite .Barred feathers fetch a premium today. Most commercial turkey farms produce white birds not traditional breeds with barred feathers.OSR
