Will B50 or Fast Flight be quieter on a longbow?? THANKS

Depends on your tuning. They have different harmonics and the silencers usually have to be placed differently for each. I have low stretch on my hybrid and it's very quiet.

Length divided ny 4 for cat whiskers on B%)---what's the starting poing for low stretch??

I just work on sound. Just don't tie them in tight and move them until you get the best spot. Each material is different, each bow likely has a place of it's own on the string. Math is for when you have no other variables involved to screw up the math.

Depends on the longbow too.

My 2 cents:

My D97 skinny strings only need a little bit; 2" long 10 strands of rubber fishing lure skirting tied on at top and bottom of string.

Depends on the bow, arrow weight, and your release as to how quiet it will be whether Dacron or High Perfromance Material. I have never met a bow that uses glass on the limbs that hasn't benefitted from string silencers to get it really quiet. It also depends on your definition of quiet. No matter what material, play with your brace height to see where the bow is the quietest, then add silencers. Not trying to side step your answer but I have heard noisey bows with dacron. I have a Longbow (Martin Bushmaster) that is wisper quiet with High Performance material, using a heavy arrow and yarn puff silencers. Best way I can discribe the sound is Poof when it reaches brace height when released. Measure the distance of the string from limb tip to limb tip when strung. What ever the distance divide by 4 and 3. Example: If the measurement is 48 inches your results would be 12 and 16. Some bows prefer both silencers at quarter measurement, some with both on thrid mark, some wants one at the quarter mark and one at the third mark. It all has to do with string harmonics. The only way you are going to know for sure is buy a High Performance Material string and try it. DANNY
