Is there a difference in quality? I hope this isn't a particularly controversial subject, but it seems these are the two primary makers of feathers for traditional shooters.

Personally I like the feathers supplied by Sagittarius Archery myself. The profile is a little bigger than the two other brands you mentioned but its hard to beat the price. 100 fletchings for $30.

Personally, I prefer true flight, I've used both, but it seems TF, has a "beefier " quill.

AMG, Bearpaw, Ozark are other options. Gateway are much improved over the past ten years also. More options than just those two however. Not sure who makes Sagittarius feathers but that's another option as well. I've used AMG and Ozark and like both of them.

I think Trueflights have a better and more consistent quill grind but between the two I usually choose Gateway due to cost. I do have both and honestly never saw a performance difference that I could quantify. I currently use Ozarks, Trueflight consistency-Gateway price.

TruFlight. I like the way they sit on my arrow shafts. The Gateway quill is thicker which makes the fletch sit higher. I shoot both and don't notice a difference in performance.

Just FYI, Ozark is a US company based in Missouri. I used them on the last batch I bought from Kustom-King and was very happy with the quality and price.

I am using mostly feathers from wild turkey and goose. If I do buy for a special color or whatever the heavy quills don't slow me down much. Put the feather in the clamp then a couple of strokes on 80 grit sandpaper. It is then clean thinned and ready to accept glue. Added that technique from my first self processed feathers.>>>----> Ken

We sell Sagittarius feathers where I work and have used them several times along side trueflight. To me the Sagittarius doesn't last half the time that true flight does. The feather part seems weaker to me and less resilient to time. So true flight is my vote. Also have tried gateway, didn't like the quill grinds. And have several of the ozark. They seem pretty nice and consistent although I haven't shot those arrows as long as the TF, so I don't know about the life expectancy of the ozarks. But so far so good. So my vote is for TF or Ozark. I can get the Sagittarius feathers here at wholesale cost. I still spend the extra money and order TF from 3 rivers. This is just my observation and might be different than yours over time.

The last two orders of some 800 Gateways have a better and beefier grind on them than those I used in the past, which I like. No complaints at all. But the AMG, Sagittarius, and of course, TrueFlight, are good too. TrueFlight seems the most consistent over the years, but really, I don't have a problem buying or using any of them. My purchase depends more on color choice and who may be having a sale or a good price when I want to stock up.

I have used both as well as Sagittarius. I tried and liked Bearpaw as well. It’s color selection for me. Last feathers I bought I wanted bright white, they are True Flight.

If feather are wearing out you have a tuning issue. I have arrows that are over 20 years old with feathers that are still in good shape.
Unless you shoot them through something, get frequent interference, get bugs in them, or something similar they shouldn't be wearing out.

Shot Trueflight feathers since the 70's. Started shooting AMG when I was a dealer for them. Now all I shoot is AMG, really love the florescent colors

Fdp: it's not a tuning issue. It has happened mainly on the cock feather. Which does not have shelf contact.not to mention, it is on the same exact arrow shafts that i have Fletched with true flight aswell. And yes I agree, they shouldn't be wearing out, but they are.

Sagittarius---great quality and they last just as long as other feathers--- im afraid birds are raised for meat not feather longevity. If you like to pay more then definitely truflight--- sometimes their full length are a bit shorter and harder to get two feathers out of--- so even more opportunity to spend some extra cash.

What Rifleman said X2. I haven't found better feather to feather quality or color saturation than Sagittarius. I have had no issue with durability.

True flight on top sag on the bottom. The true flight are actually older, and I had this happen on more than one set of arrows hence why I had to refletch some arrows with true flight.and that notch that looks cut out? It wasn't it happened after shooting then at a bag target, and noticed it folded over. Couple more shots it had completely broke away. Not saying they are all bad. Just apparently the batch I got. I do agree that the TF full lengths are shorter.

Gateway makes the 2.25" Shields that I use but the quill grinds are not good. I straight clamp them and sand them all uniform before I start, it doesn't take that long. For my long shields I use Bearpaw and have been pleased with them.

Shawn, those Sagittarius look like a higher profile, and you are hitting the riser/shelf with them. That will wear any feather.

Mr stout: how does one hit the riser. With the cock feather? And yes they are very high back. That is their Shield cut I was told. And yes I will agree that the hen feathers that have we're on them are from Riser contact because they are so large. But that doesn't explain how my cock feather is getting damaged on it it never comes in contact with my riser

Mr stout: I apologize, i do see how it could be caused from shelf contact. I was driving and using talk to text. And it didn't get everything I wanted to say. But yes they are very high backed. Probably why I didn't put two and two together. Cause all my other feathers don't contact the shelf.

I have used TF & GW for years and the only inconstancy I have found is the base in both brands. Even the full lenght feathers. On a lark I tried these from LCA and they are nice and a lot less expensive. So far I have used the two inch & 4.5 and so far not bad.

Started with True Flight, but began using Bear Paw for the cost. They have been good, so I will continue using them. But I also tried the Ozark Target Maxx about a year ago, and they have become my favorite. Lower profile, quiet. Easily trimmed from the back, I frequently trim the 4.5" length down to 4". They work well in a 4-fletch set up.
