Today’s First Shot will be the ‘Walk-Back Twister’. The ‘Twister’ is where you face almost away from the target then twist around at the waist to make the shot. This is to simulate a shot at an animal that his slipped in behind you that you take a shot at without shuffling your feet. Let’s do the Twister at 15, 20, and 25 yards. Shoot safe!

God Bless,

CD

The dreaded twister. My old bones don't twist as good as they use to.

A walk back twister, Chad what are you doing, I turned 72 today and get hit by this one, where can I report this abuse of us senior citizens...………………………..Ha!Ha!

Actually it probably did some good to move in a position we normally don't do, that is why we felt it.

Thanks Chad that was a good one. Frank I bet you felt that one pulling 60#

Bow Hickory longbow I carved out of a tree 40lbs @ 27.5 AMO 68"

Arrows Wapiti POC that I did up this year.

Have a great day folks and I am glad to be able to shoot today's challenge.

I forgot to mention that I am shooting better since I went back to the unusual method of Howard Hill, his style is difficult to duplicate, but if you do and it works for you it does pretty well. I still need a stronger bow and I am working on it.

RonG- That settles it. I was debating (with myself of course) as to which bow I’d shoot today for the FS. In honor of your birthday I’ll string up my hickory bow and attempt to shoot as well as you do. Happy Birthday! Lance

shooting this bow completely cold after working with short recurves for a while was not a good idea. did not do Freeman bow a justice.

15 yd, I shot under, then 20 on top and 25 on bottom on legs.

I will say that on next round, I had much much better grouping, and subsequently had GREAT TIME shooting this bow for an hour or so.

Thank you CD for making the call, hope everyone have a good day today! -ted

Dao, why does that bow look strung backwards?

Thanks for the call CD. Shots taken as called with my Hickory longbow and some POC arrows that I made. Not as good a grouping as Ron’s but all 3 did the job. Lower left is the 15, center is the 20, and I over compensated the 25 and hit higher than I wanted. Have a good day everyone.

Ted, yeah, talk about a big change! From a 46” recurve to a 68” longbow.

Hi John, it does look like it is strung backward isn't it?;)

it is Jeff Freeman Reverse handle ASL. shoots GREAT when person holding it isn't screwing things up (like I did today). -ted

Huh. Well you can't expect to pick up a totally different bow cold and hit.

Walk back twister shot as called. The feathers of my FS at 15 yards are barely visible in the photo. It was almost a pass through.

Happy birthday Ron!

Thanks for the call Chad!

Stay at it Ted. They aren't hard to shoot, just a little different than a recuve. I think they are more forgiving to shoot, Longbows :-) JF
