I have had this selfbow for some months now. I figured I would share some pics and opinions.

The Osage selfbow was made by Mark Smeltzer from BOWMAKR.COM. I believe I am very privileged to own such a work of art being its my first selfbow and first one I've ever shot!

I was first wowed by the dead silence it makes after loosening the string. I then was wowed with its performance. I had no idea a non-glass bow could deliver such power.

The grip is very comfortable and has some mind finger groves. The bulb like belly of the grip fits me wonderfully. The arrow rest is there but puts the arrows right at my knuckle.....looking down the shaft makes it feel like it's part of my arm.

I love the character of the Osage used in this bow. The color is beautiful and kinda hope it doesn't darken. The limb tips are just perfect, not a seam can be seen.

Its draw has an early load and is smooth out to my 28" draw. What I believe I have noticed is that it is heavier in draw if I haven't strung it for a week or two and feels little bit lighter once its been strung for an hour.

I am lucky to have such a high quality selfbow as my first one. Enjoy the pics that follow.

Mark makes a great bow, enjoy.

P.S. It will darken, you cant stop it.

As Pearl said enjoy. It just feels so good to see a selfbow shot. Much better than turning them into wall hangers. Bjrogg

A couple more comments about this bow.

I put the fur silencers on for decoration, the bow itself does not need them. It is a non-stretch string but I don't know the material. It does a bump in the hand when I shoot it but nothing bone jarring.

My communications with Mark have been wonderful. I didn't buy this new, but even so, he has been very responsive and quick to assist.

In my write up I meant to say 'The grip is very comfortable and has some mild finger groves'.

That is beautiful. Really like the knotty character. Like Bjrogg said selfbows are made to be shot. Good luck with it.

Joe, the "thump" you are feeling is quite normal for that style bow. He has the limbs working right into the grip. It allows for a shorter bow that will still pull 28". Nothing wrong with that at all. Just a different feel when shot.

Outstanding! Enjoy your bow in good health. Jawge

I sure don't mind some bump in the hand

Didn't finish my thought....I have had glass longbows that gave more hand shock than this selfie.

Thank you again for all the comments you made.

I too have been bitten by the self bow bug lately. I started working on one a few weeks ago with help from a friend that's been making them for a little while. My biggest regret is not having much time to work on it due to my work schedule. That is a great looking bow though, that is how I had wanted my grip. I love that shape. Congrats on the new bow. I haven't got far on mine, still practicing chasing a ring. Lol

I am envious, really nice bow, yes, I gave away my last fiberglass bow this morning I have only all wood bows, it is habit forming once you get into shooting them.

Congratulations, like said above another wood bow shooter has joined the ranks.
