After seeing some posts about Yellowstone bows, I went on their website and noticed they made a longbow called the Spike that I thought would be perfect for my 11-year- old grandson. They make them up to 60" long and up to 40#@28". And that's exactly what I ordered for Tyler. He will only pull it about 24" or about 28# for now but he should be able to use it for quite some time before he outgrows it (if he ever does). It is a mild r/d longbow and I ordered it with a purpleheart riser with matching riser and tip overlays and black glass back and belly. It comes with a stitched leather grip and radiused shelf. I had his name put on it as his first official custom bow. All this for an amazing $200. What a great deal! Thank you Blake Smith.

Rich is still there, Blake is his assistant or understudy or something. I think he delegates the spike longbows to Blake because, at $200, there's not a lot of money being made on that model. Rich is still making the "adult" bows. And thanks for the nice comments. Tyler's a great kid and I get a great deal of enjoyment participating in this hobby with him. We'll be at Denton Hill for sure. Last year was his first at that shoot and on our way home he asked "pop-pop, can we come here every year?".
