I have a indian archery target recurve 66 inches long ,45 lbs.at 28 inches. zebra wood riser smooth drawing dead in the hand bow. It was a Buddy Watson design.Do any of you guys own one of these bows?

I have this one...not zebra wood...multiple lams.

It is labelled 50# but is a bit lighter.

Specs are stamped in the riser, along with the serial numbers.

Really beautiful bow.It amazes me at how much you know about vintage recurves. There was a picture of Buddy Watson holding the exact bow that i own.Can not remember were i saw it.It has a very long handle on it, and they come to points on the back, similar to a bear tamberlane. It is also stamped like yours.Has an s stamped on it which i think is for sears.I think it was made for sears by indian archery, and was made to compete with other target bows from that era.I will bet you own a number of vintage bows.THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY.

Thanks...I own a few.

Actually Indian Archery made these bows for Sears...Buddy Watson was their archery pro and designed the bows.

I think I have also seen the picture your talking about with Buddy holding a bow like yours.

Indian's get a bit of a bad rap...the design of the one you have is efficient as the dickens and they're well made...tips are classy as well.

Post some pics...like to see it.

I do not know how. Maybe get my son to try.One time for experiment sake i made 4,fast flight ready with 10 strand ff string vintage bows.Browning wasp, Ben pearson apex #15, Ben pearson cougar, and a Indian Hawkeye. I had read a lot of positive things about the speed of a Browning Wasp. Each time to my surprise when a chronied those bows the the Indian hawkeye won out by 2 to 3 fps, and i know they are all different designs, but they all said 50 lbs at 28 inches from the factory. So yes i do believe that Indian gets a bit of a bad wrap.

I picked up three last weekend at Compton's. I think I am up to 20 now in my small collection. Don't know anything about Buddy Watson.

The bows mentioned above are some of there top of the line bows, I have less experience with some of there others bows. They are still in business, Escalade sports, and own Bear Archery in Gainsville Fla. today.Get on the net and search Indian Archery Buddy Watson. His daughter still has a big collection of his bows.Beautiful.Like piddly,s above. Used a lot of lambs when he built his bows.

Sorry if I'm hijacking, but any of you Indian collectors know the model that has orange glass on one side and mint green glass on the other, leather wrapped handle, plain-Jane looking non-figured wood(maple perhaps?)in the riser/limbs, and a brass Indian plate?

I own a really nice one, first bow I ever owned, given to me by my Dad in 1978, but never seen another like it or knew the actual model name...hard to locate much info on the Indian bow line:(

South Farm..what is the length? That helps narrow it down.

Any numbers or letters? Picture would help...trying to figure out a model from a description is tough.

Does this help at all Pete? Thanks!

I think it's a Seminole model. That's what 267 was in the catalogue.

Please show me a pic of the rest of the riser for the shape...looks like maple.
