So I picked up a Jennings Citation Mark one 9 out of 10 55@28 66" and SN6655 it feels a little more than that. I know Jennings is in the Hall of fame but this is the first one of his bows i have seen or owned. any Jennings fans out there that have any info to pass along?

I have a split limb, single cam, Jennings Star Master. It is fully tricked out and a 3D winner. It is a very fine bow. Also have a BowTech 101st Airborne. They were both top of the line bows. I just don't shoot compounds anymore. Tom Jennings was instrumental in promoting the compounds. I believe Bear bought them out. >>>----> Ken

I had a Mark II several years ago; 35#@28"; AMO 68" if memory serves. It was a very nice bow. I ended up not shooting target as much as I thought I would and eventually traded it for heavier bow.

2 bears you are correct. before he started building compound bows he made trad bows when he shot the first compound he stooped making trad bows and went full into compounds. I have one of the trad bows. I understand he was making great bows no matter which type he made at the time. I read an interview with him and he said(paraphrasing) that weight was a big issue early on with compound shooters and some of his designs were not as successful as the could have been because of the weight.

I bought a new arrow star back in the day.Put 3 sets of limbs on it and had to replace the riser once.They were maple core glass lam limbs back then.My cousin had a pro shop and replaced many of those limbs, and not just jennings.I had a bear grizzly, and went back to that after one season with the compound.

I shot literally thousands of arrows with 2 different Jennings and never had a limb problem.In fact it was the reason I went with Jennings. I guess there were good ones and bad ones. I wouldn't want nothing to do with anything I had to replace the limbs 3 times as well as the riser either. Maybe I am just lucky. I never had a Trad bow break either.I haven't been at it but 60 or so years. I am just getting warmed up. :^) >>>---> Ken

Brian, he used to write for one of the old archery magazines as well. I think he had a column. Meet him once at Weissers in San Siego. By then he was compounds only. I still have two of them.

Is the Citation the forward handle bow with a little reflex in the limb?

Tom Jennings made outstanding recurves. Most were longer than considered to be in vogue these days, but they were fine bows. As good as any past or present and better than many.

2 bears my cousin had a shop ,and my brother still has a shop for for the last 30 yrs. They sold all compounds for a long time. I used to help them with repairs.If you saw some of those repairs you would not believe it.That is back in the day late 70,s on. After that decade they started making limbs of fiberglass, and composite materials that eliminated a lot of there warranty work.Back then they used magnesium cast risers, and i saw many of those come into the shop in two pieces. If you looked at the breaks you could see air pockets,"porosity" were the handle let go.They have come a long,long way since those days.My brother sales PSE and rarely gets a broken bow back in his shop now.They just keep getting better and better.

Tom you are right that is how he got the compound from Hollis Allen and he was so impressed he started making them right away. He also used gordon Platics on his wood bows

Never saw a jennings recurve would love to see a picture of one.In our area the damon howatt hunter was thought of as the best, and if you did not have the money to buy one of those you bought a bear or if you were really poor a ben pearson.

Kind of my experience except Bob Lee made Wings here in town. they were pretty popular locally. He still builds very fine bows under his own name now but he left town and Wing went out of business with out him. He is still missed. I had a Howatt and a Wing in those day. Lot more bows now and since then but none any better. >>>----> Ken
