Off with the old, in prep. for the new. I've had this old very early 50's Bear Polar for a good while and it's time for a face lift. Here is the grip removed and a beginning to taking off of years of ugly. I'm gonna try to post as things progress.

Nice Moleman 1, Paul I'm glad you are rejuvenating the old gal.
A little extra care and some make up and she will be on the red carpet soon.

It's taken most of the day, but other than a few touch ups in a couple of places she's all stripped, scraped and sanded. With a clear coat of Poly the red glass will pop again. More to come.

I left all of the original markings under where the grip goes.

Well, I got her all scraped, sanded and buffed. Here's two coats of wipe on poly satin and she's lookin good. A few more coats and it will be time to fashion a new grip. I saved the original wood wedge shelf which will be reinstalled as well. You can still see some of the age in the glass but he'll, I can't hide my age either.

Looks really good. I did the same with an old Lemonwood longbow.
