This bow was well thought out before i made it.I only had 60 inches of stave, and 8 knot holes on belly, some deflex, and it looked to me like it may or may not make a bow.So i made it with a slight working handle,no heat treat, some set left in it on purpose, filled the knots with osage saw dust, and crazy glue and sinew backed it. Just wanted to get a bow out of it.This was 3 years ago.I retillered to 46 lbs at 26 inches draw 450 gr arrow.Had not shot it much. This morning i shot it through a chrony and to my pleasant surprise it shot 155 fps average for 10 shots.Draws smooth and shoot it well. Some times you lucky i guess.

The pic didn't show up Bassman. Good performance at 26'.

Thanks badger, but you test yours with 500 gr arrows. Those numbers would lower, but still tickled pink that i made a successful bow out of that piece of wood.Osage is really hard to come by in my area, and that piece of wood was given to me by a friend who thought maybe i could get a bow out of it.The numbers are not nearly as important to me as the fact that a got a successful bow out of it.Thanks for always sharing.

It's always a pleasant surprise when a questionable stave produces satisfactory results. Would like to see a pic if possible. Those numbers will definitely produce meat. Good job Bassman.

Steve, as i have said before my chrony will give or take 5 fps depending on outside conditions,I just shot 50 more arrows. So far ok.I also forgot to mention that i put buffalo horn tip overlays on it, and a 10 strand ff string with otter fur silencers.I have it set up for hunting, max range 15 yds.It will work just fine. Thanks for your reply friend.

Might be a bit crazy but I love working with challenging Osage Staves. always feels good getting a nice shooter from one and they usually look sweet. Bjrogg
