Hi - Just got a Super Diablo in the mail today. My eyes were drawn to the tiller after stringing...I show an upper tiller larger then an inch compared to bottom. Does this seem correct?
Any experience w/ B.H size too from guys with SDs? I would normally adjust for noise, but I appreciate any experienced feedback.
Thanks In Advance...Steve

I had a 2016 SD that I traded a longbow for it. The guy said he got it new for his son but he could not shoot it very well. The tiller was just over an inch + . Martin told me that 1/2" was in specs. I had them retiller it and refinished. If I had been the original owner it would not have cost me. But I told them I was not the original owner so I cost $125.00 to retiller and refinish. It went from 47# to 45# and tiller was just under 1/2" when I got it back. I have had several older SD bows and never saw one that bad. However Larry Hatfield said they tillered bows by measuring from the deep part of the curve, not from the fadeouts as most people did. But the bow I had was not close either way to being normal. In my opinion. It really wasn't that noisy or that bad at shooing before the tiller but I didn't like the look.

I just braced a howatt coronado top limb one forth inch wider than bottom limb.I also braced a damon howatt hunter for you just to see what is going on.Top limb is three eighths wider than the bottom limb.Larry Hatfield could tell you better than i, but IMHO i think you have a weak top limb.I have indian warrior just opposite of yours ,bottom limb is more than an inch wider than the top limb, and i know that is not right.Hope Hatfield answers this thread he will tell you for sure ,but that does not seem right to me.I have owned many vintage bows over the years ,and never saw one that was like yours.I just measured 3 other bows. A Ben Pearson cougar ,An indian target bow and black hawk bow. They all measured one eighth to one quarter positive on top limb.If you bought on ebay through pay pal you can send it back if it is not normal.Good luck i tried to help you.

Thanks Jimreed...This is the first bow, where I visually noticed the tiller difference. Awesome looking and feeling bow though...

Thanks Bassman...I was just thinking if it may be helpful when I shoot a fixed crawl...Yes, ebay...I'm going to put it in a higher brace range to see if the tillers difference changes much.

Sorry but it sounds like you have a weak limb from some kind of damage. You can't see any crack, bulge, or ripple anywhere? I would not risk shooting or leaving it strung until you get to the bottom of it. Be careful. >>>----> Ken

Not an expert but, I just checked my '73 S.D and with a 7 3/4" brace it is 7" at the top limb and 6 7/8 at the bottom limb at the fades. John

All of my Howatt's are very close to even. Only one that isn't is a 60 Palomar that is about 1" off, upper limb, been that way for years, scales proper, shoots great but is a little finicky about arrows. Some times they are just off, could be a problem. It will always bother you now unless you get it retillered or return and find another. Mine are all braced right at 8 1/4-8 3/8 but that is a little high I think, they just shoot better at my draw length at that brace. Kenny

Thanks guys...I let the seller know via email. He said he never noticed, and claimed to have camo covers on the limbs. He said it shot great 2 years ago. He is suggesting I shoot it! MMmm...may be going back. And, then start the hunt again for another Diablo I guess...
If he gave it to me for a song and dance, I wouldn't be so put off, but he didn't...
Pretty bow, and feels great in the hand...Unfortunate!
Wish I could attach the photos. I'm getting a server 500 internal error for some reason. I've attached in the past without issue.
Thanks Steve

Good. on 3 different bows i got on ebay come to find out that 2 had tip damage and 1 had a crack through core wood at the fade on 1 limb.I repair fiber glass recurves and make selfbows,so i was able to repair tips on both bows ,but had to send one back to owner, that is why it is always good to buy through pay pal.Your covered. In many cases the seller just does not know the real condition of the bow.Glad he is making it right with you.
