I used a combination of methods found online. Basically: I made a jig by inserting two 1/4" x 3" dowels into a scrap piece of wood about 1 ¾” apart. I cut a slit in the wood base next to one of the dowels. To start the wrap, I tied a knot in one end of the yarn and pulled it through the slit in the base to keep it in place. I started wrapping the yarn around and between the dowels in a figure 8 pattern keeping even tension with each loop. After the desired number of loops (20 for lighter, 40 for heavier), I wrapped the yarn end around the post closest to the slit and secured it in the slit in the base along with the initial strand.

Using a piece of scrap yard, I tied a double-overhand knot around the center of the bundle (over then under) and pulled it as tight as possible. Then, I slipped the silencer off of the dowels and cut the two ends off.

When installing the silencer, separate the bow string. Divide the silencer bundle in half, perpendicular to the silencer center knot. Insert half of the silencer between the string strands. The bow string should lay across the center silencer knot, not parallel to it. Twist the string snug. Restring the bow and cut the loops open. Shoot it 20 - 50 times and you are good. No additional knots needed to hold the silencer in place.

Super easy and fun for the whole family... if you're into that kinda thing. The novelty wore off my girlfriend after 6 or so - lol.

Your mileage may vary, some of the silencers were from the beginning of the journey (before the figure 8) and some were from the end. The heavier ones are from the end and provided a better result.
