2 weeks after our NY season ended, these toms showed up yesterday. I took some video but here are a few pics.

Birds here in VA seemed to be off schedule this year. Strutting and gobbling didnt follow the usual patterns . Seeing your birds coming out and strutting second week of June, I was curious if you experienced the same ?

Been seeing a Tom fanning here as well. Sometimes right in the yard.

Seems late.

Guys birds will display all year long. Moreso in the spring though. It’s a form of dominance. They’ll gobble too. There’s also the hens to nested unsuccesfully and trying to renest that’ll be an influence.

Great pics. I only got out once the last week of May on pressured public land in PART. No gobblers but I called up a hen that wouldn't stop yelping, cutting and clucking. I mean she was loud and aggressive. Reminded me of a fall bird that is lost from a flock break up. I found it strange she was so talkative and not on a nest. She was definitely looking for company. She stayed around for an hour putting on a show for me but no gobbler ever showed up. So maybe the birds were a little off normal behavior this year.

With the cold month of April, activity started late here, things got going fast in the May hot spell the last week of the season. Due to an injury i could not partake.

Past 2 days the toms have been gobbling like heck back in the field. In fact...one had to be real close to the back deck because he woke the wife and I up at 7am....LOL
