Just saw a new topic about returning a set of limbs. Wonder what say Bear does with those returns? Would a trip to Gainesville be worth it?

Usually they cut the tips off and discard.

Thanks, I was afraid of that. I just cringe at the thought of cutting off and discarding limbs, bows because of a finish issue.

I would say if there is nothing structurally wrong with them that they sell them.

Agree with fdp. If they're a little tight, sand a sixteenth or 32nd of an inch off the end of the limb base(s) and revarnish and they're good to go.
I have half a dozen sets of Bear TD limbs, from old to new. They don't all fit the same. Some needed a little jiggering, but never had a set that wouldn't work.

I reached out to Brandon from Rose Oak for some limb parts for a display. He sent me the most georgeous chopped in half limbs you could ever want. The blemish under the glass was dang near impossible to see, (he had to tell me where to look) but a customer complained and he knew it was there so they became firewood.

Dan, blemishs are what I was thinking. Years ago guys bought “pretty” bows shot them a few times then sprayed them with paint for camo for hunting season. Maybe they still do? Just seems a waste and helps make the bows cost more.

I remember dad received a few boxes of bows from Pearson and the paper that wrapped he bows were stuck to the bows. Must have wrapped the bows before the finish was completely dry. Dad called Pearson about the problem and was told toss the bows and they would send replacements. Dad didn't toss the bows and Pearson replaced them anyway.

M60 -
Despite what the limbs cost YOU, it's not worth it to the company to "repair" or try to resell them. Either way, once returned, no reputable company will sell them as "new". So, they either get chucked, or if apparently sound, someone at the company gets a new set of free limbs.
If the company is doing due diligence, they should try to determine the problem and check for any "batch errors", but again, it just might not be $$$ worth it.
Viper out.

The cloudy clear glass is the reason for the return on the LE TDs. Rumor has it they may camo dip the returned ones (unconfirmed). The "blemish" is merely cosmetic but understandable on the returns. Now they are using clear glass from overseas. Bearpaw, I believe. Gordon should take note....
Only time will tell.

Bow companys never usually sell blems because people won't always tell others that they were blems, so it makes the company look bad.

What was originally being discussed wasn't the subject of blemished limbs. It was the subject of limbs that folks returned because they didn't like the way they fit a riser. Not nearly the same thing.

I remember talking to a young man at the TBOF shoot in March, he runs a/the pro shop at the Bear factory, he said something about being able to get "Blems" , perhaps that is where they go. If a person is interested in Bear products a trip there might be worth it.

Leathercutter, I have a couple trips tp Fl. coming up. Maybe it’s worth a shot. I had this crazy idea about adding to my SK pair. Just can’t justify a brandy new one.
