After many years of trying to shoot instinctive, I've switched over to a fixed crawl. Seems to be working well for just starting out. Really struggle with getting the arrow tip down on target, same tp that causes me to shoot high instinctive. If I do my part and execute a good shot I hit what I'm aiming at, but boy I not see why I struggled instinctive. I have a wicked case of panic. The only thing that I'm not liking is how loud my bow is. Tune seems good. Arrows are flying 25 yards well. Just loud. The bow is really quiet when shot split.

Have you blank baled and just worked on your form ?

Fix your panic first. Get help Joel Turner at shot iq Tom Clum at rmsg.

Moving your nocking point may help the noise. It will change the amount of crawl also. Some bows just seem to be more susceptible to noise with a crawl.Just keep tinkering. Be advised though the more you aim,the finer the aiming point, sights etc. the more it agraviates TP Good luck. >>>----> Ken

Ah, that other dreaded TP. Twang Panic. Twisting the string, too busy a release?

Try adjusting your nock point up a bit and brace height. Both have helped me tune and quiet a crawl. Very deadly system for some of us. Good luck.

sorry , what is "fixed crawl"?

Raise nock point about 1/8" and drop almost all the weight off your ring finger, almost like two under.

I bought the joel turner online course. Makes sense. Been working with it. Not a fan of the unconscious triggered release.

I agree, you will never advance if you do not address the T.P. You need to fix that first by blind bailing, draw/hold/not release for a week/2/3?, and just knowing you have it and shoot through it. Changing methods of aim will not do anything. I have had it for years. I know I have it and can shoot through it now. What helps me is start shooting without releasing, it breaks that panic.

What draw weight?? Practicing with the same weight and introducing new variables such as anchor, arrow flight, sight picture is a recipe for disaster!!. Light draw weight and shot process with little regard for sight picture and tiny targets...plenty of "'tubes" on steps to a sound shot.Tough part is unlearning those old shortcuts. Got the T Shirt... Good luck the makeover will be worth it. Sack

As John above said, it is good practice to draw the bow, address target ( i aim), begin to expand and then let down. Repeating this reinforces that you are in control of the shot.

I do this from time to time and it keeps me in line.

Good to hear you are getting help from JT. Stay with the program it will not be easy.

Trapperman, good for you.

Most folks who never us a conscious aiming point will never fully understand where their flaws lie. There have been many here who have suggested putting a single pin sight on a bow for training, to see if aiming is the issue, or something else. That's never a bad suggestion.

I struggle with the same TP issue you described. I can override it if I really focus hard and calm myself, but otherwise it affects about every 2nd or 3rd shot. If I go back to shooting barebow tournaments, I'm going to have some work to do. For hunting, I can find the focus and patience to make that one shot, so I'm not too concerned.

Ye gods, now I'm starting to get PP. Panic Panic. This has got to stop. I'm gonna grab a flu-flu and go out in the yard and do something silly like shoot the mango tree, knock off that pineapple and get onto the rose bush. The kind of shooting I did too long ago when I was smart enough to not do something that bedeviled me with frets and jitters and worries. After all, if shooting arrows was something to panic about then I would have just picked up the Red Ryder and never let it go.

I made the switch not too long ago and notice some of the things you mentioned, mainly the noise. I don't know that it was louder, but it was different.

As mentioned above, Brace height, nock height, finger placement (I found an even deeper hook, helped a lot).

It took me about two weeks to really get things dialed in. Make one adjust at a time and shooting close at first will help too.

"I love my Red Ryder!"

Santa got me a brand new one last Christmas. I will wear it out.
