Mac, not sure why you would lose back tension with a lighter bow, but we are all different. We used to shoot mid 30's bows all summer back in the day, then go right to our 50 pounders for hunting season. Never missed a beat.

I can understand the cleaner release, but I get the same back tension.

"Mac, not sure why you would lose back tension with a lighter bow, but we are all different. "

We are all different trained - big emphasis on trained. When you are taught how to shoot, the back tension is explained and you learn it in the shooting process. When you are self- taught, back tension is a myth you heard about on target archery sites. You try to see if what they say is real. And with all the opinions about the anchor point, you don't need back tension to shoot a #35 bow if you are an average built adult male. Mimicking back tension is the reason the release is sloppy with light bows. And mimicking is something that you are doing or not - depending on how focused on shooting sequence you are or not. This is affecting how the arrow is released. Now grab a #50 bow and Eureka! Back tension exists! Just because you can't draw it to whatever anchor point you have. The release is better due to two things: the string rips through fingers and the string hand has nowhere to go than back due to back tension.
