Had a buddy describe a bow he found in his dad’s closet. He said it was all wood and it had Pearson written on it and he thought the first name was Bear I am betting it is Ben. His dad grew up in Southeast Arkansas so it is the right area. He said he didn’t even know his dad had a bow like that. He did string it and said it creaked a little. I told him to just leave it unstrung don’t dare try shooting it. So do they exist, were they ever mass produced or is it possibly a one off? He said it was a shorter recurve bow. Hopefully I will get some pics this week.

Yes, they existed, they were mass produced, and if it creaks then he shouldn't shoot it.

They were made of hickory and were their cheapest bows. Some models were only for kids, some for adults.

I have one of the recurve models for kids. Not certain it is hickory, almost seems to be lemonwood, can't really tell for certain. Yep, recurve limb ends,...fairly flat style limbs,..."Ben Pearson" ink stamped on the top limb belly side,...leather wrapped handle,...handle is built up somewhat with darker wood lamination. A nice old bow, probably dates from the 1950s,...anyone know dates of production for certain?

like the Deerslayer... lots of them around... most are 'longbows' with flipped tips... maybe ahead of their time... LOL

Pearson made one called the Sherwood also, and I've seen them in lemonwood.

Here's one of the 2 Pearson Hickory recurves that I have. This one is 38# @ 27". I refinished it years ago and put new leather on it. It even has the original plastic arrow rest under the leather. Hope the picture is ok. Lance

Pearson made tons of them. The creaking is likely the glued on handle section. They have a tendency to work loose as the glue ages.

I have both, the Sherwood and Deerslayer. I still shoot them once in awhile. The Deerslayer was in 4 pieces. I epoxyed it back together.

I was guessing given the tenure and time that Mr Pearson was around he made/produced several all wood bows. Still awaiting pictures the description I was given lends itself to a kids bow. I will hopefully see more this next week.

Pearson made a kids all wood Hickory bow exactly like the Deerslayer only kid size.
