Getting a Hoyt Buffalo to try out and possibly make my hunting bow. I recently got into string walking and gapping. Also switched to 3 under. I set up a bow with elevated rest and plunger. Any way, the Buffalo does not have the plunger hole. Any recommendations on an elevated rest? I have no problem shooting off the shelf, I have for years, however, I want to try vanes and I think you get a little better flight with elevated rest. Not looking for a debate here, just some advise. Looking at the simple Hoyt/Easton Hunter rest, AAE Cavalier with a strike plate.....

A $2.50 Hoyt Super Rest will work just fine. I use them, and a couple Olympic archers use them. I've actually used them since the early 70's.

AAE Super Flyte Elevated rest - Jinkster swears by it. I’ve seen in 3D competions Buffalo with Bear Weather rest too.

Ignore AAE my mistake, I forgot Buff has no hole on side window. You need a stick on rest.

Drill and tap...then get a Springy.

I drilled and installed a rest bushing on mine. I like using the nap flipper rest, with the plunger cut off, because the riser is cut to center. Had a bear weather rest on there but not much likes to stick on the side due to the radius.

I shoot my buff with three inch Marco vanes off the shelf and have incredible arrow flight. I raise the rest by attaching velcro to good double stick tape so it is raised just an eighth of an inch. Also I leave a channel between the rest and riser. This set up is awesome.

Forgot to mention that I set cock vane at one o'clock.

Have you tried a NAP Flipper Rest?

The Hoyt Buffalo's riser is built up and out to shoot off the shelf.Thats why it it not drilled for a plunger. You can drill and tap for a plunger but the way the riser is built out a plunger would push you so far off center. The best is to use a stick on rest. Now the Hoyt Tiburon riser is aready drilled for a plunger and the riser is cut out to allow plunger adjustability and elevated rest.

I ordered a Hoyt stick on rest. I’ll slap it on as low as I can. I usually shoot off the shelf with my hunting rigs, but lately i am getting into barebow target, I see the advantage of elevated rests.

On an ilf target bow i shoot berger button and flipper rest. For hunting i shoot off the shelf or bear weather rest.Never tried vanes on my bows, but it has been written many times before that its much easier to tune vains with elevated rest.I watched a guy on utube tune vains off the shelf, and made them work.

I don't know how far the Buffalo is cut past center, but if there was room, I'd drill and tap it.
