I’m going Saturday

Can't shoot right now, but plan on going Saturday anyway.

JusPassin what are you giving up? Not archery I hope.

I'm given up most events, as I can no longer afford them. Plus I've lost my patience with dog poop and humming generators.

I'll be wearing my soap creek shirt. If you see me there give me a shout. Always nice to put a face with a name.

Tom, I stepped in more dog doo there last year than any shoot I've been to.

Will be my third time at this shoot. Driving from Illinois going to be great weather and love the course

It is a great shoot. I can sleep on a granite boulder in Quetico on a canoe trip, but I cannot sleep in an Iowa campground. Campers make noise all day and all night when it is hot and the people in them are even louder. It is going to be fiercely hot this weekend, I have suffered from heat strokes from my construction years, my body does regulate properly for hot weather. If I went and took someones camper I would be a prisoner in it with the air conditioning on high.

Last time I went it was storming and rainy and hot as heck. Felt like I was at the Base at Ft. Walton Beach. The course felt like a swamp. Frankly it has never been as good as it was back at Ames. That was a nice campground.

Nothing like being negative about everything JusPassin

Marvin, politically correct, I'm not. Praise where praise is due. The Iowa Trad Shoot at the Ike's in Ames was superior in every way. It was very unfortunate that we lost our place there.

Like I mentioned earlier. I will be wearing my Soap Creek shirt. Come up and introduce yourself. We can swap a few lies. Also if anyone is interested, I will bring a few hip and back quivers. Hope to see you there.

We are here now resting up to get ready for setting targets tomorrow. Going to be a warm weekend but there is a nice breeze. Agree Ames was an awesome location and I wish we were still there. But, things change...we adapt and enjoy ourselves anyway. Its the people that make this a fun weekend.

Won't be shooting this year. Recovering from rotator cuff surgery. I am bringing a young friend with me. I'll watch him shoot. He's 18 and really into traditional archery. Good to see some young'ens getting involved.

My brother and I shot at the Ames ground before it was used for the trad shoot. I stumbled on a yardage marker pill and knew there had been a target course there. We cleared couple of lanes and the grounds keeper cleared some more. We used the rotting excelsior piles as targets back then. My son, Cody, usually tries to make the Iowa shoot, unless we are in Quetico that week. He has run into some of his old Sioux City friends at the shoot. I am not sure if I am ready to do that much shooting yet, since my wrestling match with my chain saw. The chain saw is working properly again, but my twisted shoulder not so much. I bought a self propelled lawn mower today because it hurt to push my lawn mower. I did get the lawn mowed, thought I was going to die. I love ice, fans and air conditioning all at the same time.

My son Mr. CPA Executive is staying home. Monthly closings had him working long hours and the weather moving though that area had lots of hail in it. i hope everyone that arrived early missed out on the hail storms. My wife is disappointed that we are both beat up and the weather is so fowl, she had all of groceries bought and we even did a test set-up of our wall tent. She suggested that we could get a motel, but that just ain't the same. I have a few weddings gigs coming and thought maybe I could have done a test concert with my traveling classical guitar to find what people like., but I am not so good with the sore shoulder and the heat.
