With one week left here in NY, and after missing a nice tom 2 weeks ago, it came together 9am this morning.

Roughly 18 yd shot from one of my natural setups. I called this bird the Warrior as his fan and wing feathers were beat up bad and he was missing feathers off his back.

I used a recurve from Kittitinny Archery, called Chaco, 54" 53#. A 2117 tipped with a 160 gr Snuffer did he damage. The bird weighed 17 lbs with a 9" beard and 1" spur.

Nice going, that is not easy. We have birds all around where I live and I have not gotten any shots yet. I've seen a lot of toms but Scott is right, they are really spooky, and only vocal for a short while in the morning around my area.

Thanks...I had feathers made up from last years bird and going to do the same with these wings. I just love the challenge of bow hunting these birds under natural conditions...no blinds or decoys. The close encounters, not getting shots off because too many hens around or even the misses.
