Me and 5 buddies fly for Edmonton (in route to Slave Lake) Alberta next Sat for bear. I've killed a bear... but not with a bow... and damn sure not with a longbow. This will be my inaugural hunt with my Centaur. *GULP
- Arrows with VPAs are flying great - CHECK - Been shooting with 4 arrows in my quiver - CHECK - Been shooting sitting - CHECK - Mother in Law is booked to arrive next Friday for the hand-off - CHECK!!
My dining room table looks like a mini-Bass Pro shop display.
Oh... and one of the greatest joys of the trip is the fact that I was FINALLY able to crack the code on how to sharpen my 3 blade VPAs. I look like I have the mange... patches of missing hair all over.
my two bear hunts were two of my favorite hunts of my lifetime...even though only one came home with a bear. enjoy your trip and the excitement of bears up close with a longbow. Dont be scared to ask them to move the bait in closer...be confident.
How about a broadhead from an old saw blade, mounted on a birch arrow, shot from an English Longbow. Circa 1926. I think like thousands before you, you will do just fine.
I am envious of you Allan. Some of my most fun and memorable hunts are bear hunts. I have never been to or hunted in Alberta, but you may want to consider bringing a thermacell. Represent the Lone Star State well and shoot straight. Good luck sir and take plenty of pictures to share with us.
Have a good time! Slave Lake is only a couple hundred miles from my neck of the woods. And great hunting country. Good Luck and share some photos . Please. Ken
