Wow you just put Stacey in my head Frank when I first meet him in Pa.

He's looking over you. Be safe.

I miss Stacy so much. Sept 20 will mark 13 years since he passed. Doesn’t seem possible. His buckskins ate here by my desk, hanging my on display as a quiet reminder of a great man. I miss him.

Thanks Roman. Take care my friend.

Do you do any tournaments or competitive shooting. I tried to find some videos of you shooting and could only find you shooting behind your back from a few feet away.

jimbob Would you believe that few feet away gig has fed me for 33 years this year?!? Crazy huh?

Grats! I see your shows as a way to promote archery and it takes a special type of person to get things going in a world where time is $.

You're going to play guitar behind your back for Ted Nugent? Probably not. Keep spreading the good word Frank.

From: AspirinBuster

That’s funny!

George - Mother Maybell Carter was the mother of country music. She was an Addington and like us all, started in the mountains of Va. Charles Cromwell Addington started there and about all the Addington’s in the US can trace their roots there and then back to England.

Anyway, told you that to tell you this. The musical talent stops there. I inherited none of it.

So I’ll just keep doing my dog and pony show. At a few feet like some be re i see me earlier on this thread. Haha

Wow. I think the furthest back I’d seen was Charles Cromwell Addington, here in the US. Cool.

Would you call what you do strictly trick shooting? I've seen Byron Ferguson shoot and almost think the guy isn't human. Some sort of robot programmed to shoot a bow. What is your show made up of? I just have never seen it, or heard of you before I joined the leatherwall. Just curious. Thanks

Frank, I grew up in the 50's so there ain't many artists that I haven't heard, coming from a hillbilly, musical family. They were part of an entourage of country artists featured on WWVA in Wheeling on the radio back then, along with a bunch of others. Wayne Raney was on there as a DJ through the 1950's. Also WCKY Cincinnati, Ohio also had Raney as a performer and a Nelson who was on there when Hank Williams died.

You see Frank, I'm a dipped-from-the-heels Hillbilly. Do you know the song that held the number one spot on the country charts in 1952 for over twenty weeks?

George No, I’m a 67 model. Tell me the song.. very cool history. Thanks for sharing.

Jimbob I always say a trick shot never misses. An exhibition shooter on the other hand has great days and then once in awhile misses. Typically the media will say trick shooter but I usually correct them if they say it during an interview. A trick shooter implies smoke and mirrors.

There have been a number of really great exhibition shooters in our sport. Some are well known and some may not be household names but chances are they all have helped put a spotlight on archery and promote it. Fred Bear traded exhibitions for booth space in his early days, most have heard of Howard Hill, Bob Markworth, Ben Pearson, Gallen Shinkle, Dale Marcy, Ann Clark, Rev Stacy Groscup, the Wilhelm brothers, Byron Ferguson of course, Byron Tabor, Ron LaCLaire, Joe Johnston, Randy Oitiker and even an archer with no arms I met in Nebraska named Matt Stutzman. Also there is an impressive young man named Chris Hurt from Pa that’s going to do great things.

Of these, I was the first one crazy enough to attempt to shoot a baby aspirin from mid air behind the back. I wanted a show that attracted media and got attention so audiences would hear my moral message. Like Gene Autry or Roy rogers, I want to entertain and deliver a moral message too. I encourage the next generation to shut off the tv, computers and video games and get outdoors. I’m 51 and drug free and I credit my parents for raising me in the outdoors and getting me engaged in hunting and fishing at an early age to helping me steer clear of all that bad stuff.

So my show is designed for the next generation and media. I don’t spend much time preaching to the choir. I like when folks, especially archers, enjoy my show. But my main goal is helping archery grow. My show was the first archery exhibition to be a part of a national Presidential campaign (Bush-Cheney 2004) and I was a surrogate speaker for the President at an event in Bend, Or. After my remarks I did an archery show. Have also done private shows for celebs and entertainers, etc. but it’s not always glitz and glamour- have performed at Posuum festivals (once -1980’s), and lots of schools, churches and camps. I love to speak and do shows at Special olympic events too. Those kids are great.

Anyway, that’s a brief version. In a nutshell I was a lucky kid to have been born to great parents who kept me around positive role modes like Fred Bear, Earl hoyt and Rev Stacy Groscup. 33 years ago Stacy tossed a Pepsi canninti mid air and challenged me to hit it. I did and that began a wonderful career I love.

Best, Frank

A typical media article. This was the Star Tribune in Minneapolis, Ann. I want a spotlight on archery. Fred Bear was the master and most things I do to promote the sport I learned from him.

Well, if you read Autry's biography you won't put him in the same sentence with Rogers.

Jim No sir, give me the info. I will read it.

Hank Snow, "Movin On". Stayed 21 weeks at number on in 1950...not 1952 (my bad), and every hillbilly band in the country had it in their repertoire. Stix likely was right on the 1952 chart.

Switching from Aspirins to Tums, perhaps?? Comparatively they're "HUGE".
