My film about my solo moose hunts in Alaska called "Chasing Solitude," should be ready for release sometime early June. I am planning to premier the film on the big screen at the local Antioch Theater in Antioch, Illinois on June 7th at 6:30 PM. If you live in N E Illinois or S.E. Wisconsin and would like to attend, information can be found, and early tickets can be purchased on my website. I am a Bowsite sponsor and appreciate your interest. Thanks, Mike
I really like the title. It in and of itself it tells me a lot. I am for the most part solo back country hunter. Maybe I am a jerk but I like it that way. The solitude the madness that comes from 15 days spent with yourself and only yourself. Of course it's not madness , but it does take you to a different place mentality. Haven't done along trip in a long time. Solitude sets in for me after about 5 days.
I hope you all will get the chance to see this film in your own homes. I plan the first launch in both DVD video and Blu- ray disc. The adventures of my solo hunts taking place in three mountain ranges were self-filmed in high definition, and it is hard to compress the final edited film, that has a running time of 1 hour and 45 minutes, down enough to format on standard DVD. It will be available, but I encourage you to consider the Blu-ray disc version that will better represent what my eyes saw. I trid to bring to the viewer the sense that Timbukto suggests, that mental toughness is required to remain comfortable in your own skin, and the solitude brings a spirituality that may have been latent in your soul. I have hunted solo for multiple weeks each year for over 25 years in the Rocky Mountains and Alaska. You can read more details and an article about portions of the hunts filmed on my website herdbullproductions.com. I have enclose an image of the front cover for the DVD format. Thanks Mike
Afraid I'll have to wait and order online, had a chance to speak with you in MI. this past Jan. very educational 15 min. I'm looking forward to the public release.
I got to go to Alaska a couple of years ago and you can't describe it unless you see it. My hats off to you for even trying to hunt Moose with a recurve bow on .your own.
Mike, you're doing what most only dream about and making it possible to experience vicariously through your adventures Thank you for that, I'm looking forward to your DVD.
Thanks Bill. I sent a friend out with some fliers to Big Foot Archers in hopes you guys would post in club house. With summer league shoots underway, maybe some of the guys could bring their team mates. If you can't make it, I hope to see you at Comptons where I hope to have the Blu-Ray disks and DVD by then. Mike
I'm gonna plan on making it, if not, you can bet I'll be buying the DVD. Remember the Seminar ole Gene held back in the late '80s,,,at the Holiday Inn in Elgin? Time flys eh..;)
Mike, Bought my show tickets, Gale and I would not miss that chance to view on a big screen. I don't have a blu-ray so will have to settle for the DVD. Yep, will be at Compton.
Otter- yes I remember that Classic Whitetails seminar tour Gene did, and we went down to Elgin to see him. Thanks Bill, see you and Gale there at the Premier in Antioch on June 7th. I am not planning any type of tour, but just wanted to see how the film will play in a theater. One night only. Thank you all for your interest and support for this project. Mike
